The F4 sounds fun, but unfortunately, I will be out of town at that time. So, while I would like to contribute to the inevitable supremacy of the north, I mean, showing the Oregon folks a thing or two, I will regrettably be in Belize, yarding in bonefish. Cry a tear for me, will you?

But, I must catch salmon. Large salmon and many of them. As usual. wink

I am planning to head to the Bonneville area on the friday and saturday of the 29th and 30th of this month. Also the 7, 8, and 9th of April. I know that many of you washingtonites are planning on showing these Oregon mole-rats (or was that beavers) how to fish later in the month. Anyone interested in having some fun in a pre-F4 practice run up around beacon rock on either date? These dates should be at the beginning of the bulge of the run, and should have a good rate of biters.

If the weather is decent, there is camping at the Fishery, at Dodson, for about 12 bucks a night, if not, there are motels a few miles up the road at Cascade locks, or back down the road about 15 miles at Troutdale.

Anyone interested? I tried to get Dave Jackson to come along, but he mumbled something about laying down with dogs and getting up with fleas, so I have to go back to my own kind. That is, capable, skillful, successful fisherfolk. (sorry, Dave, but this is war)(or at least fishing)

Seriously, this could be a lot of fun, and for the Seattle area folks, this is a beautiful area of the gorge to fish. The scenery is fantastic, and, by the way, the fishing can be pretty darn good, too. The Fishery at Dodson has a good launch, and there is a lot of water, and good, relatively easy water to cover. For data on the Fishery, see

http://yp.yahoo.com/py/ypMap.py?Pyt=Typ&tuid=10292576&ck=2019715491&tab=B2C&city=Troutdale&state=OR&country=us&slt=45.539310&sln=-122.385269&cs=4&stat=:pos:5:regular:regT:7:fbT:0

So, I'm going, probably with a few buddies, and wouldn't mind hooking up with some folks to have a little fun in addition to the fishing. Heck, even if their zip code was from Oregon.

So, anyone want to do a mini flotilla those dates? Whaddaya think?

One of the typical Waaaaah boys, a little slow.
F3.5 was already held, as was F3.9.
Better change that title to F3.91 before all your chances at practicing are gone. And you Waaaaah boys need all the practice you can get. Call it F3.901, F3.902, F3.903......

It's just that we're not used to numbers that are so small. In fish counts, fish sizes, numbers of teeth... wink

Geez, could ya make that link any longer, Hilton? Dude brags to me that he's installed NT a few dozen times but he still can't figure out how to post a link.

To be expected, really, considering you got the story all wrong about my not wanting to be seen with a flea-bitten Dawg such as yourself. It probably has something to do with your feelers getting hurt and you wanting to put a positive spin on it.

That's okay, I'm sure you'll have a good time trying to learn the Columbia with the rest of your mutt friends. It truly is a beautiful stretch of scenery, and sight-seeing is all you'll be doing as your rods remain still. laugh

Yeah, rods don't move much once you put them back in the truck, after you limit out. Should take about 45 minutes, given that we'll have to sort through a bunch of unclipped fish. Should leave plenty of time to go look at scenery, maybe catch a few walleye.

Heck, I figure the reason you all like kwikfish so much is that it moves the tip of your rod, a motion otherwise foreign to y'all. I tend to prefer herring or spinners myself, as I already know what a strike looks like.

On a more serious note, Dave, have changed the schedule to come down on a friday rather than a saturday, so that I can be there on sunday for the kids to get their sugar hi. Will likely have the empty seat if you want to sneak out Friday afternoon.

Now, Aunty, let's not taint their luck. When the run is strong, even crackers can catch fish.

I know you do. I even think DJ might be OK, for a guy that lives in Oregon. Heck, I even invited him out fishing. He had to come up with some excuse not to go, as he was in danger of breaking his fishless streak. You wouldn't believe the lame excuse he came up with, something about the wife and family, and needing to be out of town with them or he'd end up sleeping on the couch until the third millenium...

Hilton,
Sounds great. I need a recon trip and have no knowledge of the area.
I need someone with some experience to get me started.
Email me if you want to hook up.

GFC, check your e-mail. If nothing else, we can compare notes for some places to get you started. I never fished much below the I-205 bridge, but I used to be a terror up above Washougal.
