If one of you ever caught a native that looked like that, would you bonk it to eliminate it's defective genes?

Hmm.. that's a tough one, i think i'd let it go, it would be cool to see one of the same defects in the future! lol

If I remember from the original post with those steelhead in it, someone "in the know" stated that the reason for those parrot beaks was not genetic, but was caused by injuries incurred as smolts in concrete hatchery runs.

Anyone else remember this?

I remember he said that they use brooms to remove the algie out of the tanks and the smolts get hit breaking his upper jaw. Said most of the ones that get injured this way die.

Somebody else sugested that it was a birth defect from chlorine.
