c/22,

I started a thread a couple of months ago on St. Croix, and with all the positive feedback, I said what the hell and bought one. Great rods IMHO!

I purchased a 9' 8-17 lbs, 3/8 - 1 1/4 oz, Med-Heavy. Great rod for the price, no question. I've been a Loomis whore my whole life, so it's hard to compare it to an IMX. If Loomis built a 9' 1025 GL3 it would compare nicely, especially in price, considering the GL3 would be around $285+ while the St. Croix was only $180.

See ya,

James laugh

PD, I remember your posts last time, glad you like your new rod. Looked at the 9'6" spin rod yesterday at Sportco almost bought it on the spot as they are only $ 150.00 down thier. Going up to Teds somtime this week as they have an Allstar 1083 I can shop while I'm looking at the St. Croix 9 footer and the 9 1/2 as well....c/22

c/22,

Right on! If you decide to pick one up let me know what you think, once it's been put to the test that is... wink

Thinking 'bout picking up yet another 1141s or another 1082s to the collection for free drifting, small summer flows, etc. However, maybe a 9'6" St. Croix might save me some bucks. Keep me posted!

Thanks,

James laugh

Stopped at Teds during my lunchbreak this afternoon. I had rods spread all over the place!! They have a old style G.Loomis Imx 1141 that is sweeeet but $$$, after fondling them all I'm about 90 % sure I'm going for the St. Croix avid 9 1/2 footer (6-12 lb. test, fast-action, spin rod) It feels really good with a stradic 2000 on it laugh .......C/22

The 9 1/2' St. Croix at Sportco is the med-light blank 4-10 test. Think thats as close to the Loomis imx/gl-3 1141 as your going to get for $150.00...chrome out eek

The deed is done. Spent an hour at Sportco yesterday as they just got thier St. Croix order in. Was able to compare the 9' 6" med. and the med.-light side by side, then just for grins laugh I wander over to the Lamiglas rack, thier 9' 6" X 96 ls certified pro fell right between the other two rods in weight and action. Loaded them all up with my reel of choice a stradic 2000, whiped them about the store. After about 10 min. of "air steelheading" much to Mr. Herzogs relief, I took the Lamiglas home. Sorry P.D. maybe a St. Croix next time.....c/22
