do you have the regular curado, or the SF

The regular curado compared to the chronarch:

Chronarch: Smooth, looks cool, SF is nice,
Curado: not as smooth, plastic drag star which is easier to break

thats pretty much all i can thing of
If you have the money the chronarch SF is nice.. if you dont want to spend as much get the curado SF

i have the bsf and standard curados and i see no diffrence in them. I dont think it was worth it to buy the bsf. So i was thinking about the chronarch.

The Chronarch doesn't hold as much line as a Curado. For some reason, they only make hte Chronarch in the 100 series whereas they make 200 series Curados.

The Chronarch has more bearings and weighs slightly less than the Curado. It's smoother to fish with and I like it better for chasing Steelhead. It does have a little less line capacity but that shouldn't be a problem. I recently got 2 Shimano Scorpion baitcasters from Japan, one being the Japanese version of the Curado SF but with alot more line capacity (holds 165 yards of 12)and is a plum color. The other is a Metanium MG which is the japanese version of the Chronarch MG, nice reel that only weighs 6.9 Oz and costs less than the American version.

Yes TH, I own all three. The Curado, Curado SF, and the Chronarch.

Curado's are pieces of crap.

Curado BSF's are not to bad. They feel cheap, are a little large in the hand, but cast nice and for now, any ways, the drag washer has held up, although I really haven't put it throug the paces yet. If the drag on the SF is anything like that of the Curado, it will fail in a year or so, but it's easy to replace.

The Chronarch is super smooth, casts great, had a great drag, and was flawless for 3 hard years of use. It went back to Shimano for service. They replaced a bunch of stuff for free. 6 months later, it failed again. This time, Shimano replaced some bearings for $12. 2 months later, it's failed again! Drag is very sticky.

Haven't sent it back yet, but I'm sure it's because I am getting water in the parts. It will take a solid month for me to get it back from Shimano. I don't know what Shimano is doing at the shop, but I don't think it's me, seeing how it lasted for 3 years the first go around.

When it comes back, I'll still use it as my primary reel, regardless. If it fails again, I'll probably go out and get the MG Chronarch. Super Free and very light weight.

Chronarch's RULE! Forget the Calais, as it's not a 6:1 gear ratio. Curado's and Curado SF's are good backup reels. I use the Chronarch as my baitcasting reel, but use the Curado SF as my Flydoggin' reel. I'll use the standard Curado on my 1026 as my "slap on some 50lb Power Pro and yard out some Springers on the Wind" reel.

Thanks Parker..
I love my Chronarch's... the smaller spool size is no biggie fo me since I fish smaller rivers. #14 power pro, 100+ yeards, plenty!

I am thinking of the MG version from Japan. My wife thinks she needs one too smile

I have noticed that the drags on the Curado's are weak.. I have replaced three of them this year... I went with the super soomthie drags (I think that's what they are) I have them in all of my chronarchs and love them.

I tend to be a reel "dunker" I am always dunking my reels, that doesn't help.
