when you say it's about to go out, do you mean it's slipping or what?

I had an 84 2wd (have a 92 4wd now).
Couldn't adjust the clutch in it. You could adjust the pedal as far as where it grabs. But it was a hydraulic clutch and once they wear they wear.
It had 160,000 miles on it when I changed it. I put 140,000 on the 2nd clutch before selling it. Shouldn't have sold it. mad Still ran great.

I used to have a '78 toyata pickup with a hydralic clutch and you could adjust it by climbing under it and adjusting the nut on the rocker arm that goes into the bell housing. So it may be adjustable, what you really need to do though is go buy or look at a manual for your car and see if it is adjustable and how it adjusts. Manuals can be found at Barnes & Noble and some times public libraries have them too.

Good Luck

What ever you do don't take your truck to the clutch doctor in everett, took my truck in there, got a great deal on the new clutch, less than a year later had to take it back for warranty work. After a huge fight with them they decided to do the work, after getting the truck back it still wasn't right. Took it back to them where it sat for three days before they said it was ready. Now the truck is at the toyota dealership where I just got a call saying that I need two thousand dollars worth of work on my tranny because whoever did the clutch didn,t reinstall it correctly, didn't have all the bolts in and stripped some of the bolts that they did get in. You can imagine how I feel about the CLUTCH DOCTOR right about now. In my opionion you would be better off throwing your money out in the street than having them work on your truck. Lessoned learned pay the extra money to have the right people do the work.
