I picked up some Owner hooks a couple weeks ago from Fisherman's Marine in Portland. I haven't used them yet but plan to this weekend. Has anyone had any experience with them?

The salesperson at Fisherman's said they're better than Gammie's (and considerably more expensive). They seem just as sharp, considerably thinner, but they have a flat, knife-like tip that is different than anything I've seen. I wonder about their overall strength. I would rather not have one break in half while fighting a nice springer. Any experience with these would be appreciated.

Owner hooks are good hooks.
Both Gamakatsu's and Owners are sharp
and are considered high end hooks.

If you find a good deal on them,
snag 'em!

I change out the stock hooks that come on Pt Wilson Darts to Owner stinger trebles, I consider Owners to be a superior, extremely sharp hook. This summer I will use Owner octupus for silvers as I find them to be as good or better than Gammies, and lots better than all the pretenders.

Owner Hooks are right at the top. You can't go wrong with Owners. Owner,Gammie and Daiichi are the only hooks I will use. After waiting for a bite, you don't want the hook to fail. Don't worry about the extra cost, it's worth it. Owner hooks are sticky sharp right out of the package. Don't touch them with a file, they want be as sharp. Hope you catch lots of fish.

I have not used owner hooks, I use gammies, and one not mentioned, mustad.
The owners would have to be... FAR!! superior, for me to pay the price they are asking.
Not cutting them down by no means, they are just very spendy, I have great luck with gammies and mustad.
I would be curious how much better or if they are better though.

As long as the ones I use work good, I probably would not be convinced to change.

I'm a gammie fan tell the end!!!.How ever I've used the octopus owners three to four years ago and broke two out of twenty hooks on snag's.I went back to gammie and have not regreted it ever since. But the treble stinger hooks these day's I feel have out preformed the gammies.I'm talkin size 2,1,1/0,2/0 for my plugs.Last fall the owners
where the $sheeyat for salmon,They were sharper/stronger and lasted through twice as many
kings & coho then the gammies.Note: Both brands of trebles got pretty bent up after netting the fish, but the owners got changed fewer times then the gammies.Good luck,

Go with gammie octopus and owner trebles.

I replace all my Kwik Fish hooks with Owners. They are the sharpest hook Ive used. Never had a break or bend on these hooks. Lightly rub the hook down your thumb. OK, now go get a bandaid eek Not all hooks are created equal laugh

Owner's are #1... They are the sharpest, strongest hook I've ever used.. Plus their offset is great which in it's self will increase hook-ups... But I sure wish they weren't so spendy, at .40-.50 a wack it get annoying.

Hey Strike, I was thinking of using the Owner octopus for floating herring in the salt, so no snags, but I will always have Gammies with me!

I've bent out a few Gammy EWG's on some fish but never the Owners. I like the Owner trebbles for my plugs.

Unless I get free samples, I wouldn't even consider an Owner octopus hook on a river. Probably wouldn't be too bad with what Garcia is doing, as unless he hooks a mean piece of kelp, he probably won't lose too many hooks. I'd go broke in a hurry using those on a river! Spendy.

I use owners anywhere I will not be losing a lot of hooks. Bobber and bait, trolling and backtrolling. Sharpest hooks made, and very stout. Been leaving to many in wild fish over the last week but that is the way it goes, I would rather cut the leader then net the fish. You can bring the cost down a bit by getting the bulk packs but they are still spendy, in my opinion worth the money though.
