Something from another post struck me as kinda funny (in a sick sort of way...).

How much have you all spent on boats, gas, tackle, bait, etc for springer fishing this year?

We all know how much money gets pumped into the economy by sport fishers. Well, by shutting down the fishing season early, they (whoever that may be) still get most of the benefits of sport fishers money, plus they keep in good standing with the commercial and indian netters, and appease 'environmnetalist' for taking some 'protective' measures...

Just a little food for thought - could this be planned ahead of time?

I haven't spent a penny since the end of Feb.

Well, if you're going for conspiracy theory, you have to ask the opposite question - how much money did the economy lose by shutting the fishery down?

I already have the rods, boat, motors, etc. I have four dozen herring drying in my freezer. The boat is full of gas.

Answer: The fishing economy lost nothing due to the closure, and indeed benefits from trumpeting a major run coming that doesn't materialize. Therefore, I theorize that Luhr Jenson and the ODFW and the WDFW departs are really ONE AND THE SAME!!!!

You "discovered" us in the industry and had the gall to reveal our secret!

We get tired of having to write orders every week.

Then of course, some poor soul has to pick, pull and pack all that tackle to send to the stores then some receiving clerk has to check it in and put it on the shelf.

And it isn't just the tackle industry that suffers! No, the pop, beer, chip and gas folks all have to work harder too!

Can you blame us for wanting to shut it off?????

Once the Salmon is shut down we can just relax and sell power bait and trebles to the trout guys.
