I've been having great luck using Glissen Gloss estaz for my jig bodies, color #'s that are working for me are 18, and 29... if you havn't tried this do!@! makes great bodies

on the cowlitz i caught two springers on a white head, #18 body, and black tail
and my dads buddy got one on a white head #29 body, and black tail...

not bad for one trip!! cannot wait until sunday when i give her another try. i'll post results

Casey

Right on, Casey, thanks for the tip on the jigs. Always better to go artificial then burn up the precious egg supply this time of year when it can't be replenished.

BTW, I was at the post office this morning. You know what that means! wink laugh If all goes well and they deliver on time, you should have a nice surprise in your mailbox tommorow eek laugh laugh

Give a man a jig, he fishes for a day.
Teach a man to tie a jig, and he goes flippin berserk.

Hey FS, I'm glad you got the bug. Were you checking out my Estez when I was showing you my tying gear?????? Man, my secrets out now. LOL

Yeah, I use it quite a bit, mostly for stained water. Gives out a good reflective property. May have to hide some of my secret stuff now, you keep blabbing FS. smile

I just found a good pattern for summer steelhead, too. 1/16 oz. black head, purple/pink/crystal flash tail, and black bunny fur body. The fur lays down around the tail when you wrap it, and gives it a more natural look.

Forgot to mention, that was purple and pink yarn for the tail, but you could use marabou, too.
