I fished just below Bonneville a few times many years ago. I used shad darts, plain jig heads polished shiny or painted silver, and little spinners or spoons. Fish close to shore, cast out 30 feet or so, and most fish will be caught on the end of the drift, very close to shore. Bring a decent rod, because I hooked a springer using a chartruse jig. Have fun, but be aware of the water levels. They can rise or fall in less than a minute.

This may seem stupid, but do you drift like you would for steelhead with those lures? Like, your main line to a threeway swivel, with one line going to lead, and the other to a lure? How much leader do you use and how much lead?

Thanks a bunch for the info,

Biggy

Big Daddy-

Below Bonneville Dam the water is rippin fast. You'll want to use a downstream swing style drift. Other people will be doing this all around you.

Best lure is a hot green floating jighead. 3' leader, 1' dropper with hollow core pencil lead pinced on so it will release when snagged. Bring lots of stuff-you'll burn up some gear getting the hang of it.

Here's a good link

Good luck!
