Dry eggs and wet eggs both have thier uses. I like dryer tougher eggs when Im drift fishing, they hold up better. When Im bobber fishing, Back bouncing or using eggs behind a dive I like to use wetter eggs. Wetter eggs milk out better giving of a bigger scent cloud. The baits dont need to be as tough since they rareley come in contact with rocks.
I recieved a bunch of silver eggs last fall from a couple guys who didnt want them, 24 skeins in all. I didnt really have the time tocure them like I usually do. I just cut the skiens up into bait sized pieces and put a layer in a 1 gallon glass jar and sprinkled some Pro-Cure Wizard in Hot Lava orange, then added another layer of eggs, then more cure etc. until the jar was full. I added about 1/8th of a fluid ounce of pure anise extract to the jars ( I ended up with 3 gallons of eggs) I let the eggs juice out real well then I turned the jars upside down in the refrigarator for about 12 hours, then I turned them over again and let them sit another 12 hours. Then I just poured off the excess juice and packaged the eggs in quart jars that were vaccum sealed and froze. These eggs are about the messiest thing you could ever handle but the springers sure like them.
