Do any of you have this problem? When I use cured eggs,( especcially PROCURED eggs) the skin on my fingers peel off. I have great results with my cure and am to stubborn to stop using them when the fishing is good BUT the skin on my fingers and hands peel off 2-3 layers down to the sensitive MEAT!!! Wearing gloves on the river is not an option. Is there and lotion, potion, old wiives tail that will cure my fingers Blues!!!

My fingers used to do the same thing comercial fishing up north but that was due to wearing gloves soaked in the salt water.I have never had this happen from egg cures but I have had them dry up after a day but never peel or crack.

I used to smear my hands with bag balm and wear cotton liners to bed to help my hands along and actually if I did it every night it would actually go away but I am talking months of abuse not a week end of fishing

I would almost say that you are alergic to procure and might want to try a diferant cure.

A problem I used to have a lot handling eggs for 12-18 hours per day in AK and then fish slime and wet, dry, wet, dry. By July my hands were so cracked I could barely clench my fist.

I've tried about every potion known to mankind with no success, so I simply started wearing surgical gloves ... presto, solved the problem. If you get the right size, you'll have no problem rowing or tying knots with them on. After 3-4 times using them, you'll forget you're using them.

We get ours at: Marsh Medical

If you don't want to get a box, we've also used the Playtex Home Health Care gloves that you can find at Safeway and had good luck with those as well ... they're a little thicker and tougher than the standard gloves you'll typically find.

It's nice being able to play golf again in August smile

Costco has 200 gloves for $8. Harbor Freigt also has blue nitrile gloves for about $6 a box of 100.

Gotta agree with Bob on the gloves. Used to be by the time Springer season ended my fingers were so cracked they would bleed. Would barely be healed Get a box of gloves, they come in diferent thicknesses and sizes. I like the thin ones for better feel and dexterity. Mkae sure your hands are dry otherwise they can be a real pain to get on. I spend half my day at work in them and they aren't bad to wear.

My wife worked at a hospital nursery for awhile and due to the combined constant handwashing and the gloves her hands were a cracked and bleeding mess. She started using a product in a short round jar called Working Hands Cream and she said that by far it was the best product that she has EVER used. She's been buying it from Rite-Aid but I did notice it at the front checkouts at Fisherman's Marine Supply, believe it or not.

It's a great product, and it's made by someone in Joseph, Oregon if my memory serves me correctly.
