Crabbing must be pretty good. I see many, many boats along the Everett to Mukilteo shoreline. And in another post on the board there was mention of a tribe member who had several 55 gallong drums of crab. I didn't even realize it was open for commercials due to the soft shell condition. It's a shame sportsman only can crab Fridays thru Monday.

I suppose it's the wave of the future: openings for fishing will be centered on weekends and not during the work week. Should produce some spectacular crowds like at the Tulalip bubble for all species.

Was surprised how short the spot shrimp season was. Ya blink ya miss it. Wow...sportsman must have really hit them hard for that two weeks or so it was open.

If anyone missed Kruse's article in the paper last week, you can get samon heads and guts at John's Sporting Goods in Everett for $4.95 per pound. Kruse says these are the best baits for crabbing. And if that doesn't work I expect you could find some crab for sale from the tribes somewhere.

So how did you all do crabbing this weekend?

Try using turkey legs for crabs. Turkey works better than anything else. I will be crabbing off of Kayak Pt. tomorrow. smile

I agree with EL,chicken and turkey is a far better bait than fish heads or guts. The turkey is really tough and puts alot of scent in the water.

My wife and I got our limits wading in Port Susan Saturday. Clams are the best bait for pots, in my opinion, fllowed by salmon, herring, chicken backs, turkey drumsticks, etc.

By the way, $4.95 for salmon heads and guts is highway robbery!

I agree with salmonbelly. For 5 bucks, you can buy an entire chicken at QFC or Costco. Salmon guts and heads are free at most of the launches/takeouts around here once the rivers open back up...

fishheads havnt worked good for me. i use chicken or old fish from freezer. i have done really good with duck meat, if i breast a bird bad i will save it for bait or if i dont get em all eatin in time they become bait. duck is very oily and has strong scent to it. we waded for them sun and easy limits as the tide was -3. all in 7 to 8" range. My friend Blair waded and I stayed in the boat and sorted and seperated crab off of Kayak Pt. S.P. during the minus tide Memorial Day. We were able to pick and choose the crab we took. We had an easy limit. laugh
