What can you tell me about Diamond back drift boats?

How would they compare to an Alumaweld or Willies?

Are they worth the price if I could find one?

Matt

A buddy of mine (Fishslayer75) bought a Diamond Back in February and he really likes it. I've floated the Kalama with him once and it seemed like a very nice boat.

I looked at them after I built a wood boat and before I bought a Willie. There are a lot of good used boats out there for much less money. The important thing to remember is resale value. You are asking the same question about Diamondback that every potential buyer will ask should you ever decide to sell it. Buy a well known brand. Willie.Willie.Willie.Willie. It will sell very quickly should you ever need to. I sold mine in less than 24 hours.

No complaints, the Diamondback looked very nice and I spent several evenings checking them out with the very helpful folks at Dougs Boats in Woodinville. I thought it was a little spendy. If you don't mind buying a used boat you can pick up a nicely equipped guide model from any manufacturer for half of a new boat cost. You will get a few dents, scrapes and scratches, but what are you going to do to it? Maybe Coho wants to sell his Koffler? Now that he's married he's getting the "fishing again??" pressure!

Could I go wrong, since money is a factor?

I've been happy with mine, got it set up with a dual heater system, anchor and 3rd rear seat. Added counter weights and oar rights and rows really nice.

its kind of late on this one but i been busy killin springers I bought a 17x56 diamond back new 2 yrs ago it has been the best rowing boat i have ever owned i have had alumawelds and willies in the past and the diamond back is a dream to row compared to those doug at diamond back was willing to set it up any way i chose and with out any extra cost for my modifacations to his design in my opinion the diamond is one hell of a boat and a lot less cash then a koffler willie or alumaweld
