Is it possible to access the Green River (King County)above the headworks gate? I would like to fish the upper river and am wondering about access.

Green River Headworks, You can park at the gate and walk via foot for about 3/4 of a mile right up to the dam. Hope that helps you out. cool

Since Sept. 11th last year the headworks area is closed to everyone except workers.

it is true that the dam is closed to public access. they closed it sept 17th last year for obvious reasons. i was told that it will never be reopened due in part to the terrorist threat and also because of the littering and trespassing problems they have had before. it is open downstream from the dam but most is on private property.

this is just one more good example of why we should always be respectfull of the landowners and pack out all our trash, and others trash too if we find it and LEAVE NO TRACE!! this is very important if we are to continue to have access to this area since almost all of it is on private land and the owners are nice enough to grant us access.
