Ya.....way to go USA! When my buddy showed up at 4:30 this am, I thought for a second we were going fishing, then I realized it was Friday, I had to work and we were going to watch soccer before breakfast. Monday's game should be a fun one to watch. JMS

It has been a GREAT world cup to date but boy are these middle of night games distrupting my sleep. Today's game clearly showed that the USA is still not quite ready for top flight World Cup play; they just aren't physiologically prepared yet. Drawing Mexico for the next round is a good break, playing a known team will help.
It appears to me that the USA team is catching up athletically with the rest of the world. However the USA still lacks the intutive feel for the game that separates the best from the also rans. Hopefully as the team's young guns (Donovan, Mathis, and Beasley) mature we'll take the next step and become a consist threat on the world stage.
Go USA!!!

Next up Germany - Another team not expected to go this far. USA also matches up well with them.

YES!!! What a game. Friedel is the man. He has kept us alive and kicking. It is ashame that more Americans are not hyped about this World Cup. All of the games have been great. Germany is beatable. Not ready for high class teams? Please. We have some great talent and there is not a goalie playing better than Freidel right now. YEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

It is too bad more Americans aren't hyped. This is history in the making. Playing soccer on a req team makes me appreciate the skill of those guys all the more.

Right on, Little Fish. I've been out every Monday night tending goal in the mud, hail and sideways rain for the past couple years. Watching Friedel and our boys on the field over there really is inspirational. We can hope this will have the same effect on all those kids out there just getting started in soccer. When I was growing up our schools didn't even have soccer teams....or shoes, or grass fields, or running water. But I digress.

Close but no cigar. It was a fun ride.
Have to tip my hat to the Germans; their composure in the second half was impressive.
The days of teams taking the USA team lightly are now in the past.

Exciting game. Very close. If you ask me I thought the US outplayed Germany, but at the end of the day scoring the goals is what counts. JMS

SCHEISE! That was a great game. An inch here or there and the outcome would have been vastly different. It was a handball! and that one at 88 minutes on the outside of the net? USA 2006?
