There is a large public ramp right there at Point Defiance. This time of year though, that ramp can be the biggest clusterf%*k around. If you decide to use it, be sure to pack PLENTY of patience along with you.

Pt.D can be easy going. Just get there EARLY! The biggest wait I have had is a 2 or 3 boater. Usually, by the time I am done unstrapping and putting the plug in it is my turn.

Went to the Pt. this AM. Line was to the top of the hill, that equates to a 20 minute wait. The mornings are easy as it is always experianced guys that know how to launch. Now the afternoons when you go to take out, that can be another story. Bring your bag of patience as there is usually more than a fair share of folks that haven't had the boat out for a while, wife, kids, dogs, you name it. Wife trying to back the trailer in while dad is yellin' no your other left. Lawn chair and a six pack, it's better than any comedy shop around. They have improved it though, there is a stand to pay at and an attendent there now that directs traffic, went pretty well today. Oh, for the fishing report it was a dead slow day. We were skunked along with a lot of other folks. We had one hit that didn't stick, only saw 2 nets out all day and talked with a friend at the dock when we were taking out that had one.
Good luck and tighht lines, Jeff laugh laugh

I don't think any looked under 10lb.On Wed. I busted off a king in the low 20's,forgot to check my leader after releasing a shaker,DUH! mad

Try the Gig Harbor boat ramp parking sucks but it is less crowded not too much more of a run maybe 10 minutes.

Back when I lived in Tacoma, I almost always launched at Narrows/Day Island Marina (down near Titlow Beach) and made the run up to the Point. Lot less of a mess although its harder to launch at low tide.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Too funny 4S. laugh

I was there one morining with the line to the top of the hill. After waiting until we were about 5 back from the front, this guy in front pulls up, hops out, and makes his wife take the wheel while he starts barking orders at her.

After several failed attempts, I just couldn't watch any more and ran up and offered to back it in for her. wink She gladly accepted, and scooted over. I backed it down to the hubs and got out, walked by her now-scowling guy, and said "You're NOT a nice man."

Man, did he throw HER to the wolves. When it's your turn at Pt. D., it's time to launch.......not stow rods, load tackle boxes etc. It's a busy ramp, but it usually moves pretty quickly. BUT.....throw a couple lunkheads in the mix, and it bogs down like the freeway at rush hour. rolleyes laugh
