I always use Maxima Ultragreen, Excalibur or Ande line in 10-15lbs test depending what fish i'm after. I find its durable, strong and reliable expeccially after a few days of hard fishing. I always respool every month. My friends like Yo-Zuri and am trying to get me to change over. If you were to pick ONE fishing line what would you choose. Trilene is OUT. This is how I use them

Maxima: Winter Steelie, Silvers
Excalibur: Summer steelies
Ande: Chums and Kings

I have been using Triple fish for a few years now.I'm very happy with it.6-8lb for steelhead and silvers.25-30 lb for chinook and sturgeon.
Started using Suffix D.N.A. in 8lb for steelhead this year and so far I'm pretty impressed.

The verdict is in and P-Line is the best of the rest. I use P-Line cxx xtra in moss green and it matches all of my Calcutta's perfectly.(same color) I have tried all of the big name line's and read and did research from info I got out of the Sport's Fishing Magazine's article and and the extensive testing they did and I have found that the P-Line is way underrated and is an excellent performing line. Can't find one that cast better or is stronger and as tough as P-Line. I usually order it from Cabellas or Bass Pro. I am sure that if you or anyone else would try it you will see exactly what I am talking about. This stuff is strong with great knot strenth. I use to 20lb test for the Kings and I usually win. I catch lots and lots of Kings and Silvers and with this line they don't have a chance because the line just does'nt fail. My 2 cents worth. Hope I have helped to end this mystery.

i tried p-line before and it was ok, i still like maxima better. i use 15# ultragreen in the sound and have never lost a fish due to line breaking. as long as you use a name brand fishing line and have your drag set correctly you should never lose a fish to your line.

i think most of the guys on this board use maxima, but that doesnt mean it is the best line all around or for the way you fish. even though i have my favorites in tackle, line, hooks & etc. im still trying a new brand every now and then just to keep up with what's out there.

Forgot to mention that I like to cast great distances and the P-Line out performed all the others as well. I use Maxima Ultra green for my leaders some of the time but I find that it's not as limp as the P-Line for a main line. The ultra Green is good stuff but I think that P-Line has more for your total fishing needs. It does'nt require a long cast in most cases when fishing in small rivers and zipper streams so a stiffer line does just fine. In my case I find that the P-Line does equally well in both situations. When it comes to my tackle I consider quality of performance the most important factor when considering my purchases. FYI try breaking off the 20lb P-line and see for yourself the extreme effort it takes and compare that to the others.

I started using suffix DNA this last winter and love it, great line, no complaints from me.
But there are a ton of good lines out there.

i fish ande line and have no complaints, but i do have to respool my reels about twice a week. i fish hard and catch lots of fish though. i use maxima for my leaders. a little more abrasion resistant. maxima is great for baitcasters, but horrible for spin reels. i fished maxima perfection and found out it was inperfection. just my own opinion though.

I tried out Stren's Extra Tough. Man, they are not kidding! I spooled my downrigger rods with 15 lb. When the bite cooled off I started to jig with a 3 1/2 oz Pt.Wilson Dart. To make a long story short, I snagged on the bottom and I could not bust the line loose to save my life. I had to cut it! I was really surprised at this lines strength. eek

Remember all, you can recycle your used fish line at any decent sportsmans store.
