I just bought a boat that has a magellan nav 6500 gps unit. It seems to be in good working condition, but has no c-map cartridges. I have been trying to find out which type of c-map cartidge will work. Does anybody have one of these, or know where I could find out which cartridge to buy?
My other question is whether or not it is worth buying maps for this unit? When I tried boater's world, they said I should just buy a new gps system. So is this unit outdated? I can think of a lot of other equipment to buy unless I really need a different system. Thanks for any ideas. SS

SS, The Nav 6500 takes a Cmap NT, which aren't hard to find. The chip will run you between $199 and $299. If the unit works, go with it. smile

Thanks for the reply AKKINGS! Can I order those at boaters World? I only live about a mile from the everett location. If my memory serves me right don't you work at boaters world? Everett location? If you do I'll look for you next time I'm in. Thanks again, SS
