New thread to keep it fresh. Caught a 24# this AM off Todds at daybreak. Really didn't see many fish caught. Staying busy weaving in and out of boat traffic. Anyone know how I can post the pic? Can't figure it out...

Fished out there in the afternoon with Busy. I guess you can't catch anything when your lines are wrapped around each others frown As was the case during the tide change for us. We did manage to knock around some rock fish and even a nice ling before we fished for salmon. Saw one guy with a nice fish on only to loose the bottom half of it to a seal. Yikes! mad

Fishslayer75 had a nice king too. Got a pix of that bad boy for us F75?

Thanks for putting up the pic... Now I get it. By the way, we also saw a seal take a fish, nice one too. The guy got it in the boat, and the damn seal hung about ten yards off the boat waiting for him to throw back what was left of his mangled catch. They ain't stupid!!

Easy Limits - couple of questions if you don't mind;

How fast do you troll?
Distance from your flasher to the lure?
Distance from the release to the flasher?

Was out friday morn and didn't touch a thing...86 boats checked, 55 chinook & 12 coho by around 1pm.

Regarding Penn downrigger part - You might try Outdoor Emporium in Seattle, or maybe Sportco in Fife has, or can order what you need

Gregor -

1. I troll at 1.5 MPH
2. I put the hoochie 24" (no more) from an 11" Hot Spot dodger
3. Distance from the downrigger release to the dodger, 30-40 feet.

Centerpin - I feel for ya man. mad

Centerpin - ouch man. I saw you fighting that fish for a long time and just when you nearly got it to the boat...... I sure hope that does not happen to me. You deserve another one soon.

We, Busy and I, trolled through the tide change and did not realize our lines were tangled up until we went to check them about 30 minutes after the tide change. frown Ain't going to catch fish with tangled lines. rolleyes

thx EL, we tried the recommended length for hotspot & hootchie again and come up empty on that rig. Did land a 12# buck on a 4" green grandslam bucktail, right in front of M/V Cape Henry...lots of fish caught early. Saw no fish-check johnny today when we retrieved..so no numbers to report.

We fished Elliott Bay this morning. Lost two fish, right at first light, due to crappy/worn out hoochies. We even hooked into a seal/something really big that did some serious damage to our fishing line. Oh well!

I am ready to give up on Elliott Bay. To tempermental for me. I can go to Redondo (10 mins from where I live) and catch kings at will. laugh
