i would like to get a 9-9'6 medium heavy, moderate-fast action, 10-20 #test, cast rod..im not talking cheaper models either, i tried a gl loomis or was it lamiglas this past weekend and it had better feel than my current rod, it was faster action and alot lighter also..anyone got any ideas, say 150$ to start with..**berkley boy**

My general (and not very helpful) advice is to get the best rod you can afford, and to physically hold the rod in your hands, if possible, before buying. You can read as much about rods as you want, but you won't really know if its "right" unless you hold it, shake it up and down, wiggle it, smell it, etc.

try a fenwick. I've used alot of rods and for the money they are a great deal.

Have you tried the St. Croix Avid series? Light rods, geat action, very sensitive, and in comparison to other rods the same caliber, great price range. believe they sart at $170. have a couple and love them!
