I should have been more precise and said jiggers not moochers.

Jim,

If you learned more about the jig fishery you would understand that the weighted lures that are used there provide action by fluttering down after being rapidly raised up. You can lift them slowly if you want but the idea is to get the flutter going as fast as possible and not waste your time on the way up. All of the strikes occur at or near the bottom of the flutter, and alot of the time a split second delay in going back up produces a strike. This is a common tactic used in many salt fisheries, btw.

I fished the fishery three mornings last year, limiting each time with my boat, and never had one fish hooked anywhere but in the mouth. I never saw anyone else with a snagged fish either which leads me to believe you are making an uninformed blanket statement out of ignorance, not fact. Oh, and there are better lures than buzz bombs if you truly pay attention to whats happening out there.

Can these fish be caught up by Kenmore at the mouth of the slough?

seacat, we hooked one at the boat launch of kenmore last season off of the bank despite the heavy netting pressure on a buzzbomb, a few years ago we hooked 2 out in the lake at the mouth of the slough on buzzbombs landed one and the other jumped on the boat and flopped off laugh mad . None were snagged. We didnt fish that much either. Hope it helps.

Seacat,

There is a good concentration of them that hang around Arrowhead every year. If you time it right, you could do very well there. The area up by the mouth gets shallow along way out so once they do their approach, they move into the slough pretty fast.

Thanks TTT and PD,

How do you fish for them at arrowhead? Jigging, trolling? Can they be caught from the shore or a dock with spinners or something else?

I work in an office/marina in Kenmore and I've seen some guys in boats out by the channel markers at the mouth recently and was wondering if they were targeting these fish.
