We're heading out for our one big trip of the year on the 23rd. Our thought is that B10 is the best bet but want to consider all options.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a hot spot? Anything within a 5 hour drive of Seattle would work including Canada.
Thanks,
DF

I'd personally go with B10 and will on the 22nd or 23rd. Ucluet on the Westside of Vancouver Island should be red hot right now. The time won't be the thing, that dang ferry ride at $120 towing a boat can be a shaker though. Good luck wherever you go. ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/smile.gif)

Olsens Resort is a good time, if you like Coho. We, the whole family, that is, goes every year. Call first, they fill up quick. the number is. 360 963-2311. Have a fun & safe fish wherever you go.

Sorry for sounding stupid, but where is Buoy-10? Or better yet, where can I get some maps that will show thes 'landmarks'? Website might be helpful.

Buoy 10 = Mouth of the Columbia River
...And if you can't figure out where that is I suggest a new hobby. ;-)

Busy, you could do Buoy 10 in your boat. You don't need downriggers.

Oh ya, I am interested. The only problem is I would not have a clue where to go down there. Having two guys in a boat down there with no experience is just asking for trouble. The mouth (Buoy 10) is some dangerous water. I would like to go with someone who knows what they are doing first. How about a professional guide?

Yup, sounds better to me too. Anyone on this board have some input as to guides for B-10 area?
Easy, may not be able to get out this year but will continue to work on it. I would like to fish the Columbia some time. I am definitely open for some Redondo action. Can't wait for the Coho to get here......here fishy, here fishy...

I have already started to see some coho in the catch off of Redondo, not in mine though. You don't need downriggers for coho. You fish right on the surface for them. Either long line it or put on a four oz. banana weight in front of your dodger and hoochie. Pretty easy and fun catching.

Guys, if you have a boat that is safe on Puget Sound, you can do the Columbia mouth. Just stay inside. Put in at Chinook, call Chinook Bait and Tackle for tips and to reserve fresh bait. Fish right out in front of Chinook and a bit down river from just before low slack for about three hours, fish just below and above Astoria bridge from just before high slack to just after, troll downriver from the bridge in the conga line on the outgoing, troll upriver or downriver near chinook and sand island on the incoming.
There is no secret spot - look for the six pack guide boats and the old farts, and you'll see where to fish. It'll be pretty obvious. Use delta divers, fish flashes, and 5 to 6 foot leaders, and fish from 8 to 30 pulls. Troll the same direction as everyone else. Watch where the six packs start to fish, and where they pick up to go back upriver. If they all start running to some spot in a hurry, go check it out. Bring binos, and watch for nets and boats starting to cluster together. Boats close together, bite is on. Boats spread out, nothing going on.
Watch out for strong (20mph) upstream winds on outgoing tides, and downstream winds on incoming tides. They can make it pretty bumpy pretty quick.
