Off we went in search of groceries!

Instead of getting silvers at the 7-11 down the street, we went for something a little bigger and a little different laugh :

Here's one of my lings coming up:

Mrs. C (Fishgal's Mom) with a dandy yelloweye:

Our audience, a playful otter:

Fishgal does it again ... a 100 lb. class flattie:

And while we found some more toothy critters of the deep, this load of groceries is about perfect for the winter smile

Nice fish and great pics! It was a nice way to brighten up my otherwise dreary lunch hour from an office building in Portland.....

Where were you fishing? From the background, it doesn't look like the Kenai Penninsula. Looks more like Seward/Resurection Bay.

YOu're right, not this side of the Peninsula. We usually head over to Seward once a year in search of lings and yelloweye. The halibut was a fluke that we caught on a good ling spot I found last year.

I got to catch one of the lings, but with 4-5 footers and a steady wind, the boys spent much of the day running the boat to keep our drifts slow ... although most of the day was just spent getting to and fro' the spot we fished about 35 miles out of Seward.

Maybe I would have caught more, but I finally got a chance to play with the underwater camera I got for Christmas: I set it about 15 feet under the boat and had fun pulling schools of sea bass up within sight of the camera. Most of the time I did it w/o a hook, but also shot some with the hook attached.

Poor quality as I took a digital shot of the video screen, but this is a preview of some of the new vids I'll have on the site in the fall:
