Hi i just moved here and i am new to fishing for steelhead. I was wondering what is the best bait to use. I have used roe but i find it does not stay on the hook long. Can anyone help? please email me at findus@earthlink.net

Lady --- This year I started experimenting on summer steelhead with straight salt-brined roe tied up in netting, a technique similar to that used in the midwest and northeast. They worked just great, producing steelies very nicely, with the added advantages that the eggs didn't come off easily, lasted for dozens of boondog casts/drifts, were easy to cast and immune to smolt harrassment. It made no difference if the eggs were on the skein or as singles. Try this approach for steelhead. You'll like it.
