Can someone familiar with the break down of the Green River break it down for me. The Regs have five different parts. I have been to the Kanaskat part and I really want to know about the Flaming Geyser part. If I am right it is closed right now but many people down there today. Unless that is the Cowlitz County part. HELP I need to get in this river but I don't need any fines. Especially around the Flaming Geyser state park.
Thanks in advance.

ONe of my questions is answered. Cowlitz county isn't anywhere close to the Green. Why does it say this?

There are two green rivers in this state. The green in Cowlitz county runs into the Toutle.
Its a great steelhead river that is worth checking, its far away but no crowds in the summer. Its a classic Bobber and jig river

The Green River that runs into Puget Sound is open above the Highway 18 bridge.

The river is closed below highway 18 until the beginning of Oct. to protect the Chinook in the river. The fishcop was having fun down there today! The Geyser area is open and should have some summer fish in it.

Jigman, where are you getting this info? IN the regs all I see is September 16. Where exactly does this river run under Highway 18? Just out of Auburn, Maple Valley?????? I don't ever remember Hwy18 going over the green.
Just trying to get things straight.

Highway 18 crosses the Green at the area known as Soos creek. There is also a boat launch just above the bridge. The 277th St. bridge is about 1 1/2 to 2 miles below the 8th street bridge which crosses the river as your heading to Green river C.C. The area below that opens on the 16th of Sept. is commonly called the duwamish river.

So I have been reading it right out of the regs but where do you find all the "SPECIAL" regs. Every date on the regs says Sept 16. Where do I find the extension for Sept 1?

Floatuber - You don't say what the people and Flaming Geyser were fishing for, but I assume its steelhead. Here's how to tell if that part of the river is open to steelhead fishing.
Firstly, like others have suggested, get a map of the area and locate where you want to fish.
Second, go to the Special Rule section of regs and you'll see that the Green River (King Co.) is broken into four sections. Flaming Geyser park is in the last section - Auburn-Black Diamond Road Bridge to the Tacoma Headworks. The ABDR Bridge is just upstream, literally a stones throw, of the State Route 18 bridge.
Third, go to the second column in ths Special Rules to look for the species you want to fish. Since steelhead are classified as trout, this is the information line you want to read all the way to the left.
Fourth, read the third column, which lists the open season, in this case its June 1 to March 15.
Finally, the other two column list size and other special rules.

Look under the regs for AREA 10. You will find the special regs for the lower Green/Duwamish Waterway there. You almost have to have be a lawyer/geographer to understand the regs now a days.

Yup, and you have to be on the upstream side of the Auburn-Black Diamond Bridge. The Soos Creek Hatchery is just below the ABD bridge and that is where all the salmon are going right now.

They may be difficult to understand for someone who does not know where they are on the Green.
I have run into more than a few people who fish the Green who do not know where they are on the river or what the regs are for that portion of the river. Usually, I just give them a friendly reminder.

ET, Better to ask on a FIshing forum before I go out and get a damn ticket now isn't it? Or break rules like everyone else that wonders onto that river.
Thanks Easy Limit for the help.
The regs are easy for lakes and such but the breakdown of the big rivers is what is confusing. Knowing which road crosses the river where.
