I was given an Albacore Tuna fillet and have no clue as to how to prepare it. Do they smoke well? How do they grill up? Marinades? Would appreciate some direction.

This is a receipe for fresh tuna Hawaiian Style.

Marinade:
Soysauce
Green onions
Garlic (Fresh)
Ginger (Fresh)
Sesame oil
--------------------------------
1 cup of Soy sauce
1/3 cup water
1 tp. sesame oil
3 cloves of garlic choped/minced
small root of Ginger cut in slices(only fresh, no powder)
2 green onions chopped
Mix all ingridents in a bowl
Add the tuna steaks and marinade for 2 hours.
If on the grill, sear the outside (depending on the thickness, 2 min each side) do not over cook. Middle should be translucent.

Mayo, diced onions, relish, potato chips (Ruffles), and two pieces of bread (Wonder).

My mother in law who is possibly the second best cook in the world next to my own mother marinadates a fillet in Italian dressing in a baggie overnite and then grills it in foil on the BBQ.As stated before, don't overcook or it will get dry

Try marinating it in equal parts of whiskey, oil, and soy sauce, Then barbeque. Best tuna I've had.

Smoked Tuna rocks.

Also, if it is brutally fresh, slice it up with a knife while raw, dip it in soy with a little wasabi, eat.

Thanks for the ideas. Hey downriggin, I recently had your recipe as a marinade to salmon that was very tasty. 1/2 cup each of Jack Daniels whiskey, olive oil and soy sauce with a couple cloves of minced garlic...marinade 1 hour and then bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Some of the best Salmon i've had. R Ridgeway
