yesterday me and a buddy headed out for shillsha(spelling) bay for silvers it was one of the worst fishing trips. i have a 16'crestliner on a old trailer... here is the story me and a buddy preparded the night before but couldnt sleep so we stayed up all night.. we left at around 3:00am and on the way to the launch one of my tires blew out!!!!!! it sucked so we were on the sid eof the road till 9:00 am waiting for my friends dad to bring a spare.. anyway we finaly got to the water and set up one line with a green spatterback flasher and hoochie. And the next line i had a dodger and a purple and blue fly with smelly gelly.. but we only caught 2 lil kings and a whole mess of flounder.. what did we do wrong.. why werent we geting any silvers.. was it our rigs? we are going again in 2 weeks what do you think we should use and what depth to troll at.. has anyone caught anything out there at shillsha(spelling)

I've always done better for silvers either up on Possession bar, or over near Mukilteo. That's a bit of a run from Shilshole, but it can be done. You might think about going in at Edmonds next time. I prefer to use some variant of herring, such as plug cut herring, herring behind a dodger, herring strip behind a hoochie and flasher, etc. I've also done well with J-plugs.

I start at 20 feet down at day break, and go deeper, to 60 or 75 feet. Look for the other boats, and watch where they go. There aren't a lot of secrets about this.

I think the biggest problem you and everyone else is having, including myself, is the lack of fish in general. If the silvers are in they will hit just about anything. Silvers can normally be found in the top 30' of water. Yes, you can get them at 70' also. I get most of mine right on the surface.

I fish for them at about 1.5 - 2 MPH. You can go faster too.

If you are not catchin silvers, troll faster. If you still are not catching any, troll even faster and faster!!!

I talked to the fish checker yesterday at the
Shilshole ramp, she checked 44 silvers for 51 boats and when I left the boats were still coming in. Most of the coho were small, 2 to 4 pounds, only a couple around 6lb. She said most of them were caught off Meadow Pt.
