Just talked to my friend with the new sled. He seperated the downrigger ball from the cable by using a 2' snubber between the ball and a Gold Star trolling rudder. Problem solved. laugh

Next trip out they killed 'em. I would try this set up before spending $$$$ on the Black Box.
Just my 2 cents.

Baitboy,

The pulse mode "pulses" the voltage on the wire between the natural voltage of the boat up to whatever voltage you have the box set to. Rather than a constant voltage on the wire. This will entice the fish by giving your wire a ramp up in power simlating an injured bait fishes voltage. At least that is the story that Elliott from Scotty USA told me.
I have used it and caught fish, but then again, I am still working the bugs out of my system. From what I am told, this mode is deadly for slow biting fish.

I move around until I mark a good sized bait ball with fish stacked up on it and stay with that ball. If after a few passes around the edges and I haven't had a hit, I'll kick the motor in neutral and knock the downrigger ball off the bottom and then engage the motor.
If that little trick doesn't produce, I'll turn the box on "pulse." This usually does the trick.

The pulse mode changes between your natural galvanic reading and the "set" reading. It offers nothing more than a change of pace. However, I have found that it triggers fish on really slow days.

The only relationship between the Pro-troll and the Scotty black box is that Dick Poole once work ed for Scotty in the U.S.A. They both parted ways and Dick knocked off the scotty blk box. The product was not up to snuff and from what I hear it has been recalled at least once for some sort of problems. The scotty blk box works and is the best product on the market, but in no way are they 2 products linked together.

Ya know that black box is kinda like the credit card commercial "Don't leave home without it"!!! As for price follow this link http://www.berrysbait.com/1/01/1003.htm $229 US. I think they really make a diffrerence when the fishing is tough, they don't catch fish but they do attract more fish to your lures. More fish = more biters.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh
