So we have to play a little too smile

End of the season means we get to go have a little fun too!

Some of the cool things we've been able to do that are out of our normal routine:

Digging for steamers in Little Tutka Bay:

Oh my, now I gotta eat all these ... limit here is 1000 daily!!

Fishgal & I got to make a quick run on the Upper Kenai with our trout guide:

Since she didn't get to put the hurt to the reds in July, she decided to get her fill in August smile There were hundreds of thousands of reds in the area, couldn't help but catch one every few minutes. Pretty colorful fisheys by this time!

I was looking for something a little brighter ... how 'bout a scrappy rainbow for me??

A little closer look at the attractive part of the photo ... the fish:

And some wade fishing on the lower Kenai in search of some late first-run silvers with Capt. Bill (who we like to think is Cook Inlet's best!):

Lots to do around these parts ... it's what makes it such a neat area to visit!

Take a kid,a live in wife or grandparents smile fishing....
We didn't get to go this year and it is like we have to go through that dreary dark winter living
on memories.
This is a great trip..as Bob says, so much to do and see. A wife would love the trip over to Halibut Cove for lunch which includes a great boat trip on a wonderful wooden boat and a trip around the rookery....and the galleries and shopping....yes, there is a lot of shopping between Soldotna and Homer. And you can even see Jewel's homeground....and...and...and

Those reds sure change when they get into the upper river. Are they as good a fighter after they take on the new look?

No, they don't fight nearly as well at this point. Some are really old like this one with patches of fungus, others just colored and thousands of others ... dead. That's what makes it such a good trout fishery ... tremendous amount of food for them.

Hard not to catch them with this many in there ... I'll have some video down the road that I shot as we floated through some of the braids ... unreal numbers of fish!
