While returning this weekend from Neah Bay, I stopped at the boat launch on Crescent Lake to flush my motor and rinse off the trailer. There was a boat already running his engine while on the trailer when we arrived. They were washing the whole boat down while one guy was cleaning salmon on the dock and tossing the carcasses into the lake. I was pretty annoyed as this went on for over 10 minutes while we waited, but did not say anything. I noticed a young ranger striding very puposefully in our direction as he talked on his radio. He told me that it was illegal to flush my boat motor in the lake and pointed to a small sign 5" x 8" on a dark background mounted on a 2' high post. He said that if I flushed my engine there it would cost me $75.
As I started to leave, I saw another ranger arriving in a car and the young guy writing a citation for the considerate boater ahead of me who saved my butt.
