I need everyone's help here. I finally upgraded my boat two months ago to a beautiful 21' Trophy. It's the boat of my dreams. Outfitted it with 2 Scotty electric downriggers (30" fixed booms), Lowrance LX-15mt GPS/Fishfinder, 9.9 Merc 4-stroke kicker, VHF radio and much more. Long story short, the downriggers, GPS/Fishfinder, West Marine Deep cycle battery and Raymarine VHF radio were stolen Thursday 12 September right in front of my house in Port Orchard. Unfortunately, I did not record the serial numbers, but if anyone has any information or someone comes to you with an incredible deal on one of those items, I would surely like to know about it. I still can't believe it happend. The *******s broke three locks in the process as I had everything locked up in the cabin. Be careful about leaving anything in your boat even overnight at your house. These crooks don't care about your stuff, they just need to steal to pay for their freakin drug habits. If anyone has any info, please contact me on this site. Thanks in advance

Dangerous Dave, Dont have any info for you but I can certainly empathize with your situation. Being stolen from certainly pisses me off to no end. If someone broke into my baby and ripped me off I would burst some headbolts from being so mad! Make sure to file a police report and contact all the pawn chops, etc. Good luck finding your gear. -SG-

Hey DD, That sucks! I would think that in your area in P.O. that it would be pretty safe, not really a high traffic area. Guess I need to rethink what I do when I prep the boat the night before and leave it outside for that 0400 departure the next morning. If it can happen at your place, it can happen at mine!
Hope all else is going well and I'll give you a call in a couple weeks when I get back!

Sorry to hear this, what a bummer. I guess there is a bright spot (if you can call it that) they didn't get your kicker, which is a major theft item in this area (Puget Sound area) Hope your insurance takes care of you.

Hey Dangerous Dave,
I just saw in the Bremerton Sun Classifieds section a few days ago that there were two Scotty Electric Downriggers for sale with 48" booms. They wanted $425 for both. Might be a lead for you to take a look at.

The latest bad news from this crime spree is that while DD had his boat over at Olympic Boat Center in Fife getting repaired, some a-hole decided that his kicker would look better somewhere else! So the running tab on this incident of vandalism has risen to $10,000!!!
UNBELIEVABLE!
Apparently they either tried to sell it or did sell it to someone in North Bend or Issaquah. I'm not real sure about that, got that info from my wife, but anyway the guy they sold it to for whatever reason traced the ID number to the original owner and so hopefully those crumb bags will be tracked down with his help!
And btw, in case you didn't know, anytime your boat is in for maintenance or repairs, it's most likely that the business will not take any responsibility for theft or damage. Kickers are a frequent target for these vultures. Keep that in mind when you have to leave your boat overnight!

One thing you guys might consider is to get an engraving tool and engrave your WA drivers license number on all of your valuable fishing toys. It might make it more difficult to sell, especially to pawn shops and honest buyers.
