Had a buddy of mine fish the weekend and could throw nuts and bolts at the end of his line and caught fish every five minutes. His biggest fish was caught on a minature orange hoochie... Go figure.

I'm south sound and I fear most fear most of those fish are heading north... we will see.

Fishguts, don't worry no one will notice. We went to Sequi this weekend as well with fair results Saturday, and fishing the way it should be on Sunday. You could have plug cut a pop tart and nailed them Sunday moring. Can't wait to go back.

Made my first trek to Seiku over the weekend fishing with Kev and Reiter Rat and couldn't have been happier. Silly, silly fishing although the nates outnumbered the hatchery fish probably ten to one. I think a lot fewer nates would end up dead if they'd let us keep even one considering the number that get hooked, netted, flopped around and tossed back in.

We weren't getting out our net till we could see if it had a rudder or not but we unhooked a lot of nates that had obviously been in a net or handled too much. It got to be where we expected any bright, not-scarred or discolored fish to be a hatchery fish.

Lots and lots and lots of fish out there. Incredible. I'm ruined for fishing in the Sound.

We were at the floatilla this weekend and from Thursday to Saturday it was fiar for Sekiu, find fish have some action, wait a 1/2 hour or so find some more fish have some actio. Now Sunday was what makes Sekiu the place to be this time of year, none stop action from the time we hit the water til' the time we quit. To put it in Dan S's words, "Jeff this is stupid fishing.....stupid people could catch fish here"!!! I really don't think it would have mattered what you put in the water they would have hit it. We hooked between 25 and 30 fish Sunday but only 2 of those were hatchery, I agree with B. Gray I think that it should be a 1 wild fish and 1 hatchery fish show. We (My Son's and I) had the best luck the last 2 days on spoons, I liked that cause' ya didn't have to deal with herring. Anyway it was agreat time.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

Fishgut;
I think some may be confused by your moniker as I was originally on here as Fishguts...

There was quite a crew for F6 in CQ this weekend. We crushed 'em! I finally setteled on a Green Hotspot Flasher with a Green glow Hootchie with twinkle skirt and a strip of herring. Fished this at 60' when I could get it down there! Got one hatchery about 15 and let a native go that was bigger.

Get there now if you can!

I hope they round the corner soon! Where are they East of Sekiu??

Your right P Dawg, nobody noticed. B Gray if you were fishging with Kev and caught fish- that proves it everyone could've caught fish this last weekend. laugh
I too watch fish being tossed out of nets back into the water. eek There are release nets made of stretch rubber that do no harm to fish, people should look into it, fish lay in them nicely without thrashing around and makes it easy to take your barbless hook and roll'em back in. Kind of spendy though, anyone remember the name as I can't and it is on loan to a buddy of mine?

Dogfish and I both landed big hook noses on a snoopy rod. Didn't matter if you lost one, another would be on in 2 minutes. What a blast.

Hey Fishgut, good to hear from you. It's been a long time. If I remember correctly, everytime You, your brother and I fished together, we never caught any fish, but as soon as you got out of the boat, we all limited! wink ! Just a friendly razzing... laugh
Anyway, hope all is well, I'll be out at Sekiu again next weekend, with this shot of rain, the fishing should be even better!

Kev

Yeah,

It was a great time up there on Sunday. Just like last year! I got my limit in about 18 seconds. Fish on, right to the boat, net. Bammmm! Center rod goes off while Craven takes care of the fish I just caught, so I reel it in, right to the boat. Two hatchery hooknoses, just like that.

We had a number of other fish, and with Craven's help we helped out a wild fish. It had taken somebody's flasher and hootchie rig and I saw the fish swimming by, flasher in tow. Craven chased the fish for 5 minutes while I stood in the bow. Got a nice Les Davis #1 flasher and a BIG green hootchie. The fish got to go away.

Howdy Ho Kev,
I looked for you out there this weekend but as you know there are lots of trophy's. I debated hard about leaving my boat over there one more weekend but I've been at Silver King by Pillar point since the 2nd week of August. Just like me to bring it home when it starts to get good.
Did you trade in the river for the salt? I've done well at that little trickle of a river that you know I fish. wink wink Don't need a boat anyway for that.
Anyway's my big one this last weekend was 13.04, and yes it was clipped. How did you do? If anything I went up on friday and we couldn't of had much better weather.
Talk soon.

Nope, the river is still my number one love, will never give that up! I'm just covering all waters now. Excellent, glad your still kicking them out on your stream! Saturday we got into a few clipped fish that were pushing 15lbs, Sunday nothing over 11lbs. Agreed, the weather was awesome, can't wait to get back out there this weekend.
Talk to you soon,

Kev

Here's my photo journal from this last week up there. Here are a few of my pictures.

First, a shot of some eggs I whored.

Next, a shot of a nice hooknose that Jeffhead caught and released.

Now, a shot of Saturday morning's Sunrise.

Finally a shot of Craven's Trophy Scooby fish!

By the way, the reading on that scale is 10.2 pounds! Not bad for a 2' rod and 10 pound test.

Andy
