Looking at buy a brand new wooldridge xtra+ with a yamaha 4 115hp 4stroke w/jet on it. Has anybody owned or used such a boat package? If so what are pros and cons? Any help would be appreciated.

My buddy used to have the 18 xtra plus with a 225 jet on it. What a nice boat and it handled very well also.

Recently he got rid of that boat and got the 17 alaskan with a 90 Johnson jet. It handles very nice also.

I've had a Wooldridge 16' for about 5 yrs. It has a 115. I fish bouy 10 every year w/o any trouble. It's small enough to hit below black creek on the Nooch. I fish alone a lot and handle it OK. The windshield (and top) is great for salmon fishing-hoglines, sturgeon fishin. For boondoggin it is a hastle to go from the steering wheel to the kicker 50 times a day but no biggie. Since I can't afford 3 different boats, I am real happy with this one, so will you be. Fish On! laugh

How much time have you spent in a Wooldridge?, do you base your opinion on experience or just that you work for an Alumaweld dealer, just curious.

I've got a 16.5 Wooldridge X-tra Plus with a 115 Merc with a pump. I love this boat, tho I'd like a little more power. And with the 4 stroke you'll be pushing a little more weight. Mine will do about 33 mph downstream wide open, which is good enough for most people, but doesn't satisfy my need for speed (and it drinks gas at full throttle).

I would highly recommend suspension seats for this boat if you plan to use it in anything rougher than glass. A sled this small can really beat the poop outta ya in a little chop.

I don't think there's a better made boat than a Wooldridge and have never heard a professional welder or weld inspector who wasn't duly impressed.

OK, I'll shut up now.

Dan

Hey Screamenrealiron. You need to put an auto tilt kicker with front controls. Gives you the ease of not having to run to back of boat. laugh wink LOL

They are really nice boats. I've been in one, and fished from it. Damned nice ride. Been in the Alumaweld Stryker and will have to say it's apples and oranges. Not bad, but think the Wooldridge was nicer IMHO. You can't go wrong with package you've picked out. I agree on boat size too. Had a 14' sled, was awesome for everything I wanted it for. But when I ran it in choppy water, WATCH OUT!!!! Damned, needed a kidney belt for that thing. LOL
