The discussion elsewhere on 4 strokes vs 2 strokes started with, "I got my motor stolen..." which makes me want to ask this question: I have my kicker locked on the boat with one of the bar locks that clamps over the clamp handles. This is the kind that appears to be channel steel in sort of a 'U' shape, that slides over the clamp handles after the motor is clamped on. There is no lock hasp to be cut with bolt cutters.

Has anyone ever had a thief successfully steal a motor that was locked with one of these types of locks? If so, how did it happen? Did they have to use a torch?

The best way to keep your kicker on your own boat is to through bolt it or even better weld it on !

Through bolting isn't perfect but it does slow them down quite a bit and those slimey thieves like to be quick .

The kind of lock you are refering to passed the test last night for me. I kind of wish it hadn't though. There would be a lot less damage to my boat, trailer, and motor.

If you wrap a vehicle tow rope around it and yank on it with another vehicle and it stays you have a good lock. rolleyes
