Ive been saving my milk money for a long time now and am looking to buy a chamber vacuum sealer. I found one at www.dougcare.com for 2000$ im sick of buying expensive bags for my food saver and not even getting a good suck. has any one purchased one like this or now of one at a better price?

Cool, they look nice.
I think I might order the SINBO.
That one uses plain pouches.
I can get plain 1#,2.5# and 5# in 4Mil. pouches for free. The price on the SINBO is cheaper then the Foodvac also.
Thanks Fishstik for the link.

Boy that looks like a nice machine.
I to have a food saver that wouldnt suck very well except on dry goods.I e-mailed them and they gave me a tip that worked much better this year on my fish. They told me to try drying the fish real well with paper towels. This worked 100% better with a good tight seal.
Maybe this will help till you get the high tech machine.

Has anyone tried clams with the foodsaver.
We have always frozen ours in liquid?

That's why I bought a vaccu-pak instead of a food saver. laugh You can control the vaccum pressure.

A friend of mine in alaska bought a vac master svp-5 and I believe it around 500 dollars. It is on the low end of the commercial vac packers. We put a cup in a bag and the bag almost completely coated the inside of it from the suction.Take a look http://www.profmarket.com/
Also I have a food saver and when I package anything with moisture I put a rolled up piece of paper towel at the top to catch the liquid, the air goes right through and I get a good seal.

Been through 2 Foodsavers and finally decided to buy something that would last. the Vacu-Pack fro the fair. I love it! I'm sure it's not on scale with the Sinbo but it only ran me about $250. I get a great seal and you can even seal water for cooler packs or backpacking trips, pretty cool.

A friend of mine has a commercial chamber unit and it is awesome. Totally idiot-proof and the bags are a lot thicker and WAY cheaper. The food lasts at least twice as long in the freezer than with food-saver.

Good info on the subject. I totally agree with buying a machine that doesn't use the "channel" type bags like the Food Saver. Although a commercial chambered sealer would be ideal, I think they make less expensive units that use the cheaper bags (several have been mentioned here).

BTW, if you already own a FoodSaver, dougcare.com has the lowest price bags that I could find.

If you don't know what a "chamber" vacuum packer is please look into it before buying a new vacuum packing machine. The previous post mentioning "dougcare.com" is an excellent tip for supplies and general information about food processing. The chamber style machine are quite expensive but boy are they worth it. I have the Foodsaver and also a commercial chamber machine. No contest!....The tip about drying things prior to sealing is a good one..that really makes a big difference...any liquid in the bag will be sucked towards the seal point and sometimes in a chamber machine the water will boil.

Kind of a pain sometimes, but when using a Foodsaver, try throwing damp or wet foods on a cookie sheet in the freezer for a half hour first, then vacuum pack it. Freezes any excess liquid on the surface just enough for you to get a good seal.

fishstix...I am no expert on who makes a good chamber machine. I just am lucky to have inherited a $5,000 commercial machine made in Switzerland. It is huge and weighs about 250#...There is a place on Rainier Ave that sells bags and both types of machines. Every year at the fishing shows I have seen someone showing a nice one. They are so slick you will laugh at the Foodsaver by comparison. Price is a problem. Check out the dougcare.com website for lots of info. Look in the phone book..best I can do.
