The big city boys, don't want the people of our state to know, or care about the corruption in the Govenors Manson! That's why they suppress this kind of information, and only give out the propaganda that suits them. After all Lock's party is all about being for the "Little People" and for "Fairness" It's no wonder this state's budget is so out of whack! Oh' wait I forgot, it's all Tim Eyman's fault So what's the official remedy for all of this? Simply deny any wrong-doing or just lie about it and constantly raise the taxes on the stupid citizens to make up the losses! So let's all go out and vote in some more of these great leaders and give our whole hearted support to their latest tax increase plans, after all, they "Promise" to spend it wisely! Besides, Gov. Locke and the rest of his party of elected and appointed crooks, know what's best for us! Don't they? Of course they do! Here we go, all together now..Baaaa, Baaaa. Baaaa God knows, I'm sorry if I offended anyone here, oop's I said "God" How rude of me!

Papafish, I think you give the PI and the Seattle Times too much credit. I think the reason they don't pick up stuff like this is that they are simply third rate papers. Gawd I miss the Oregonian.

Right on. Let's all elect a bunch of Republicans. They will stop all the corporate corruption, improve the economy, lower unemployment and keep our life saving safe. At leaset I think that's what they promised? In addition I'm sure thay will look after the environment - like they just did on the Klamath!

It would be nice to have some politicians/leaders that have basic respect for the law, that live up to their own standards. It seems like everytime I turn around there is another scandle and a big name Democrat/Liberal behind it. Somehow it seems that they are always able to justify thier actions. It usually goes something like this "I know prujury is a felony but It wasn't really sex and the grand jurry had no business asking those questions and its not important that I am being investigated for sexual harassment of a former employee, and by the way it all depends on what the defination of "is" is". Or how about "I know the deadline to withdraw a candidate is 51 days before the election and we are past that deadline, but if we aren't allowed to change our candidate we will lose to a republican". Or the ever popular "I know I am a reverand and I am married. I know that I constantly preach to our young people that they should abstane form sex until they are married, and yes I am counciling the president for adultery while my aid stands here in the room several months pregnant by me, but she is my aid and I needed some aid. It isn't really adultery If I do it". Any of these sound familiar?
The other thing that kills me is the double standard. The times and the PI won't report the Governor giving his brother in law's failing company a government loan that according to the Tacoma news Tribune doesn't abide by federal banking laws, tax break, and reduced rent in state owned buildings . They sure will report the heck out of Jeb Bush's drug addicted daughter and make sure everyone knows that she is in rehab. Of course the same week that Jeb's daughter went in, Al Gores son got a DWI. Did anyone hear about that? I don't think so, not unless you listen to talk radio.

Thers is no question that both ides of the aisle are full of cads and scouindrels, and I have no doubt that the present Gov is as bad as previous ones
My gripe is with republican policies that are destroying the environment - hence our fish runs.
Iif you are not aware ot the fish kill on the Klamath, do a search on the issue and you will learn that this administration, the same one who brought us a false energy crisis, ala Enron and who has watched our economy tank, allowed thousands of chinkoo , steelhead and endangered coho to die, simply becaue they didnt want to cut back one drop of water from farmers, AKA republican voters. This type of thing is happening every day under an administration that puts profits first and fish and people second.
Are you aware out current Interior secretary was previously a lobbyist for a lead mining company and before that worked for a think tank funded by the infamous James Watt? Whos side do you think she is on - certainly not the fisherman's
You need to ask would you rather have a president who gets screwed in the whitehous or one who screws all the american people in the name of big oil, big profits and big egos?

Vic, you are politically biased to the point of being uncredible and not worth reading. Any fishing related politics from the right? I doubt it.

Just another dot.com bust. I can see both sides and I'm a big-time Republican. This fiasco was backed by both parties at the time. Now that there is blame to pass, might as well see if we can stick it to the govenor. Just like blaming Bush for all the fallout from rules and regulations set up during Clinton's terms. Politics.... you gotta love it!

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

another scandle and a big name Democrat/Liberal behind it. So tell us about this Joe Zarelli guy.........you know, the conservative budget hawk that was getting paid a a Legislator AND collecting unemployment benefits at the same time. Yep, you gotta love those honest, hardworking Republicans.

I vaguelyy remember hearing about what happened on the Klamath. I would be interested in reading something about it. Do you have a specific source that would be good?
Don't get me wrong I do care about environmental and fishing issues. I have volunteered many times to work on stream projects. When the California energy crisis was in full swing I sent emails to local and national leaders asking them to keep fish in mind while deciding what to do with the water behind the dams on the Columbia.
Stlhd
I am personaly ticked off that Gov Locke would spend state dollars to help out his brother in laws small business and chase Boeing out of town at the same time. Then blame the budget shrot fall on Tim Eiman. You may see that as a biased view, but that has happened here in WA.
Dan
You are right the Joe Zaralli did collect unemployment benefits that he wasn't entitled to. The differencs is that the republican party is putting pressure on him to pay that money back. The president of the United States comitted a felony while in office and the democrats fought tooth and nail to keep him in there. All the while the pres was making a mockery of the law and system that he is sworn to protect.

And Zarelli wants to pass laws he doesn't follow himself.
Politics is a sewer hole and the sooner we all admit that it stinks just as much on "our" side of the fence as it does on the "other" side, we'll be stuck in the same stinky place for a LONG time.

Dan, Aunty M, John Lee Hookum
Maybe I am a little idealistic for thinking that the system is good, that there are still good people involved in the process. I am not willing to settle for being stuck in a sewer hole. So what is the answer? Should we just ignore what is going on and say things like "they are all crooked so it doesn't matter". That is how our Government got out of hand to begin with. Most people don't pay attention, don't voice their opinion, or even vote. I love my country/state and want to see it become a better place, so you tell me what is the answer? Should I give up my ideals, become jaded and settle for something that I despise?
Fyi: I don't want dishonorable people running the country/state period. I sincerely hope that the people of his district make those unemployment benes necessary.

Vic, I merely see all of your political posts as a "biased view" leaning so far to the right that you end up walking in circles. A better place for non-fishing related rush limbaugh stuff is the op-ed section of ....oh that's right....the papers are too liberal. How about the Wall Street Journal?

So why is it that your ideals only pertain to the party that you are voting for??? If you have faith in the system know that this system would not be worth a darn if you had 100% republicans and no other points of view to prevent some of the legislation that tries to get passed. Don't be so narrow minded. If you want to start taking shots..... Don't you think it is funny that there needed to be a recount in the " President's" brother's state? I am sure Jeb had nothing to do with the results there. Come on man... Its politics.....both sides are crooked. devine

All you can do is VOTE, vic. I've noticed that about 100% of the population complains about our politicians, but only 40-50% actually vote for ANY politician. You get what you vote for.
You know who the American public has to blame for the current state of politics? The American public.

Thankfully I don't have to be unbiased, I am not reporting the news. I am commenting on issues raised by other members of the board. As long as these issues are raised here and Bob allows these discussions I will speak my mind. If you have opossing views I would love to hear them. If you make a good case that gets me thinking it might cause me change my position.
What I actually said about the local papers is that they are biased and not worth reading
