Never posted before so thought I would give it a try. Do any of you have a good aluminum cleaner/wax? My boat hull is in need of a good cleaning and polishing. Thanks!

GO COUGS!

I have always used Flitz. That and a paper towel is all you need to remove the oxide. I know of a couple of guides in AK that polish their boats once a year with the stuff. Not only does it polish but it will retard the oxide from re-forming. Flitz can be difficult to find but I think Sea-Mar in ballard carries it. Other wise I would try some boating stores. Best of luck

A couple others besides the Flitz that I sale alot of are Meguiar's #28 all Metal polish or 3M Metal or Aluminum restorer/polish. They are all good products. Either Boater's World or West Marine should have all 3 available.

Doug, I used to polish my sled every two years, its a real chore, mothers seemed to work the best with a buffing pad, make sure you really want to do it before you start becouse once you start you gotta finish, ive tried 3m aluminum cleaner, and other buffing compounds for it, and mothers seemed to work best for me. i know at truck stops they got some kinda cleaner for aluminum they spray on there trailers. good luck. eek

I've tried just about everything, you'd think somebody would make an easy way to clean an Aluminum boat. Mother's works great but you'd better be in good shape, lots of elbow grease. Just recently I found what seems to be the best method so far. At Boater World they have a product called Marykate Aluminex. If you use this product first and than use the Mother's it takes a ton of work out of the project. Try it out and hopefully it will work as well for you as it did for me! Just using the Aluminex won't quite cut it, seems to leave a dull finish all by it self.
