Anyone run a jet in the sound, Sekiu, or Westport? How do they handle? Are you out of control in big waves? I'm looking at boats again and I really want access to the rivers, but will do a fair amount of sound fishing as well. Feedback appreciated. Thanks.

It's not the pump, it's the boat. A flat bottom sled in the salt will beat ya to death in any chop. Get a sled with some deadrise in the back and you will be OK fine. Mine has a 12 degree deadrise and is fine in the salt (sound and Sekiu) and I can go on any river I want. May have to pay more attention when the flow is lower but it's no big deal.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

my friend has an alumaweld intruder. i think it is a 10 degree bottom. it is a sport jet . he takes it out in the sound no problem. it handles great in the rivers to.

19 ft North River, 12 degree bottom, Sportjet. Handles the Sound just fine, handles the rivers fine. I wouldn't run 20 miles offshore, but I fish Buoy 10 and the Strait fine.
