I've been set on traveling up to my "honey hole" around Thanksgiving for a shot at some early steelies. Is it going to take a couple downpours or should one suffice. I'd think that we need at least 5 or 6 days of solid rain to have a chance. Unfortunately, I don't think this week alone is going to do it........

This is the predicted rainfall for Forks over the next few days in 6-hour periods.

Not enough, but it's a start ... and perhaps it will be more than what they're calling for.

As for a r-opener here, the official word that I got was to see "a signifcant movement of fish into their traditional spawning areas"

Personally, I'd like to see the kings stay closed all the way through at this point ... but a silver opener would be nice to see when things do return to normal ...

I'd have to also agree with you Bob. If the damage haven't been done already, have a feeling the fourth year is not going to be too good. <img border="0" alt="[fragile]" title="" src="graemlins/fragile.gif" />

Wow!
That is some detailed info you've got there Bob. It would be fun to see how accurate that is. Will you share the source?

Even 2 days of rain will bring quite a few fish in, but we have 1 week of rain forcasted, so plan on lots of fish. Just last night's rain brought in over 200 chum this morning at my hatchery, compared to around 3-10 every day since they began running.

You can get those cool numbers here:
http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/npvu/data/text/rfcqps/nwrfc/nwrfc06

Lets hope they consider opening for silvers only as soon as the water will allow fish to travel....after all that is why they closed it.

I'm crossing my fingers, but I feel in my gut things are going be slow to come back open rolleyes

I think I looked at that before and couldn't figure out what it all was. Now some of it makes sense.

Where is the secret decoder ring?

Thanks!

Gutz,

I have long lost the list of those codes, but I know that UIL is Quilayute or the Forks area and ABEW is like the Humptulips/Aberdeen vicinity. Those are the only areas I travel to fish at and thus the only ones my poor brain will remember.

Good Luck! smile

Any further word on a reopener? I noticed the Hoh creeping towards 2000 cf/s?

Is it too premature for this conversation still?
