I have Wednesday off and just noticed that the Hatchery will be netted that day. So I'm looking for alternatives and thought Kennedy Creek would be interesting. Can anyone give me directions on fishing this area? I've seen the turnoff (will be cming from Seattle on 101). Where do people fish this spot? Do you head away from the canal and go fish in the creek, or do you wade out into the canal? I've heard its a bit muddy? Is the fishing method similar to Hoodsport (ie corkies, light weight, modeerate fast retrieve?) Thanks for your help! smile

Take 101 tward Shelton...look for the sign saying welcome to Mason County. Keep an eye out on the right for the masses.

Mike: I haven't fished the creek but as FJ say''s just keep a eye out for the crowds. Last time I drove by there most were fishing the mouth of the creek, and yes it looked muddy, kinda like fishing the Samish!

Fish it on a high outgoing tide, Mike, first thing tomorrow would be perfect. It's only open for chum downstream of 101. Corkies drifted on a light lead is what most people use - no need for a fast retrieve, fish are stacked up like sardines. I use a fly on a dry line and just dead drift it into the masses, really nails 'em and is a blast - easy short casting too - great way to learn fly fishing <img border="0" alt="[eat]" title="" src="graemlins/eat.gif" />

Thanks. So Wednesday would be a good choice as the high tide is 5:52am, low tide is at 11:13am?
I wonder how much netting will be going on around the hatchery. Maybe we'll fish around the nets...
