This message will probably piss somebody off but make a lot more happy. The Green river has lots of bright chums available above Auburn now that they released water from the dam. Several of the chum I caught today had sea lice! Most were bright and shiny with clean tiger stripes. Only a few I hooked were actual "dogs". Good luck!! I was amazed at their freshness.

Seeing how I am off work now, maybe I should give it a try. Never fished a rive before though..............

I'd focus from the carbody hole up to metzlers. They were on the move, so start low until you located them. You can email me for more specific details. And for the person that has never fished the Green, the carbody hole is about a half mile below Hwy. 18. Good luck.

The Green does not get any pressure for the chums, compared to the pressure it gets for silvers.

I definately agree with that. When the Silvers were running you could barely find a place to park. Now I go down there and Im like one of 5 people fishing about a half a mile stretch of river and there is probably a reason for that. Ive noticed that the green doesnt have that great of a reputation anyway.

after being written up in F&H news every other issue and everybody and their brother fishing it at least once a season, there is no true zipper status left about the green, hence i designate it "urban" status. it has no secrets left to share, unless you can get access over private land.

AK,
What technique & color were working for you? I have used green on the Sky drifting for dogs successfully. I have heard float fishing is working for chums but my spinning rod might be too light. Thx

The dogs have actually been in the Green for a while. I've been catching them at Metzlers since early November so I doubt it matters where on the river you fish. They'll be everywhere. I'm so bored of catching them that I think I'm gonna try for some early steelhead this weekend. By far the best rig for catching them this fall has been a cerise or dark colored marabou chenille jig fished under a float. You'll have a blast. Good luck!

Funny! Ive heard the same thing about the chum. frown go figure. They sneak through the silver run? Whats up with that? I have never seen nor cought a chum out of the Green. Time to start looking for other fish I guess.

Same here. I cought a tiny smolt i think, but nothing worth catching. I hooked up two nasties, but no fight left in them.. I may start fishing up higher myself in hopes of some "other" fish. frown

I was using a dark pink with yellow dots corkie above a size 1 hook. I also had eggs on most of my drifts. Fish I've seen up river below Metzlers were dark, these fish below 18 were fresh. Also I saw no snaggers fishing for chum. A change from the silver *&^holes there previous weeks.

I would recommend fishing down low in the Green for chums right now. Try the tidal water, by Boeing. I saw a bunch down there on Wednesday. The Indians are only netting on Sundays and Mondays right now.

Hmmmm. According to 1-800-FISHNOW, last week, they were only suppose to be netting on Sunday and Monday. This week, Sunday through Wednesday. Who's to say if they follow their own rules?

Same here Eddie. But, on Friday i went up to Flaming Geezer and saw not 1 chum on the redds. So i stopped at whitney bridge, metzler, strawberry patch, car body, the golf course and 277th bridge and saw nothing but old silvers. Then drove down by southcenter and saw 2 nice groups move through pretty quickly. I did well at 277th but it seems that they just dissapeared. I think EasyL is right.
