Does anyone have experience w/ rain gear made by Frogg Toggs?
I want to upgrade the Gore Tex I currently own...I've just spent too much time in it cold & wet!

Sorry to report that my expirence with them was awful. THye are light weigh and they are waterproof but . . . they tear really easily. After about five trips they were trash and that's where I put them.
If you were only wearing them in a boat they might suit your purpose. But they are not for bucking brush.

I love my Frogg Toggs. I wear the jacket tucket into my weaders. I have done some brush busting but black berry bushes will shred just about anything. I also have commercial rain gear and I love that on the boat but it doesn't breath at all, the Toggs breath, so I don't feel as clammy after a day of fishing and walking. If I am doing very heavy brush busting I wear my Filson Tin coat. Heavy and stiff yes, but, it laughs at thorns and barb wire.

I swear by my Frogg Toggs. Obviously, they won't be the best thing to where for every situation, but they definitely have their purpose. They make a perfect rain coat for bank anglers. It's light and rolls up small enough to carry in the back of your vest without adding any weight or discomfort from bulkiness. They're also completely waterproof and their great at blocking wind. I've had mine for over 2 years and they're still in great shape.

I can't remember what Columbia uses in their omnitech clothing, but it's good stuff. All my duck hunting stuff is Columbia and it works real well. TH...everything that Columbia makes that's not the cheap rubber stuff is omnitech. I think it's their version of Gore-Tex.

OMK,
I would have to agree with the others on the use of Columbia Omnitech/Titanium wear. I have not used the Frogg Togg's, but have used the Columbia brand for everything from hunting and hiking to fishing. Haven't found anything better yet.
Good Luck! Matt

Don't forget LL Bean. I was given an expensive Gor Tex wading jacket and love it. No rain gear needed on the river now. But, at the price, I probably would have never bought it myself.

I bought a Frog Togg jacket last winter and it's been great. Lightweight and breathable, they are great for the fishing situations I've encountered. However, they do seem a bit thin so I have not taken them thru the brush. I suspect they would not last long if I did.
Over the years I've been disappointed in Gore Tex. Despite the claims, when it rains hard, I get very wet wearing Gore Tex. I thought about trying Columbia's Omintech but bought Frog Toggs instead. So far, they've been very good.

TH Check on E-Bay for Columbia Omni-Tech Gear. There is always a lot of it in the Hunting Apparel area. Also if you get into Portland, there are 2 Coulumbia Sportswear Outlet Stores, that often have a good selection of Omni-Tech. ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/smile.gif)

I vote for Cabela's Guidewear. I've had mine for 5 years, use it from here to Alaska, and it's tough and dry. A bit spendy, but it lasts.
