What do you consider a successful day of steelhead fishing? Not just being out there but the anoumt of hook-ups, take-downs, and fish landed? How many fish do the best fisherman hook & land in a day. Who is the top dog?

I think Steelheading success is defined on a personal basis. Everyone has their own criteria.
Some people find success in getting the day off and going out fishing, whether they catch a fish or not.
Others may not be happy until they limit on a river that allows 3 fish.

If I go out on any given day and catch one fish, keeper or not, I feel that it was a successful day.
Success to me is getting out to enjoy my most favorite sport.

A successful day is when we, as a group, touch a couple of fish. At that point, I feel like we have figured it out. I don't worry about whether the fish make it to the boat. Touching is feeling the fish long enough to know that this wasn't a rock. Sure, landing them is good, but then, that doesn't always happen, does it?

A better day is when everyone in the boat gets to fight a fish long enough to see it up close and personal.

A great day is when everyone in the boat touches two or three fish each.

An incredible day is when everyone in the boat touches four or five fish, or more.

We had four incredible days this year, and several more great ones. I'm looking forward to December to see if the trend continues.

i'm satisfied if i can hook a couple, landing one would be a bonus...gone through many a dry spell where i didn't feel one in 6-7 trips in a row but have also had weeks where 4-8 hookups a day were common..i'll stick with hooking a couple a day as my standard for a satisfactory day(not on the cowlitz)

If I get a fish on, even for a few seconds, I consider it a good day. One or more fish in, great.
