Warranties are tough on everyone..
We feel we have a pretty fair warranty for both parties.
If you break the rod (slam it in a door or fall on it, we charge a small fee and you get it replaced usually within a few weeks.. due to shipping time (we put all warranties #1 on the list !)
If the rod breaks to defect, then the blank is repaced for free and all you are out is a small shipping fee to us.
The tough issues are the misuse type issues..
is fisihing 15# Firelline on a 1084 rated for #12 line misuse?
or casting a #6 Bluefox that weighs 1+ oz. with a 1141 rated for 3/8 oz lure weight misuse?
These are the tougher underlining issues that we face every month...
blanks these days are designed very specifically to be fished in a very specific way with a very specific weight/line weight rating.
When we design a new blank (say the 1081 9' 4-8# )
it is designed to be a doggin" rod usually out of a sled or DB on a river.. but its great to cast small spoons w/ as well.. since it's slow action laods up so well.. but that rod is designed to load up a small amount of lead.. if the user throws too much it might snap above the handle kit... do I still throw 3/4oz Dick Nite spoons with it.. yes.. but do I know that if it breaks it's my fault.. yes I do.. to me its worth the risk.. but I also expect to pay for the replacemnet it it breaks..
Just my $.01
You should always buy a rod that has a warranty... that's just good business.
we sell some blanks that dont carry a factory warranty, but we offer a warranty through TH Rods.
