i have been fishing with the eon 3600 since last year and have had no problems with it. i think its a great reel. there have been 2 threads about this reel in the past year and most have slammed the eon, i dont know how many of them actually have used it but some are quick to judge. its got a plastic frame and maybe that turns off most people. i like it that way since it doesn't freeze to your fingers on cold mornings, and the 6.3 to 1 gears don't hurt either.

Two of my fishing partners own the eon's, and both of them have had problems with the same part. The fairlead for the spool has a little black insert that pops out of place on every other cast, (or so).
They're easy to cast and adjust, if you can get past parts falling off and fixing the reel as you are trying to land that big one.

It's smooth casting and retrieving.
Some of the plastic parts fall off and get lost (thumb rest) or get loose (black inserts in handle).
The drag is more awkward to adjust on the fly, compared to the conventional star drag.
The original design freespooled the line guide on the worm gear when casting, but that feature has been discontinued due to problems.
Other than these issues, it's fished and landed a lot of spring and fall chinook without problems.
If I were to buy a new reel, I would look for the smooth bearings (for casting) in the pricier conventional Ambassador models, or Shimano's Calcutta.
