I get my jig hooks and paint from Sportco. Or Auburn Sports. You want the paint that is a powder. Heat up the jig head with a hair drier and dip it in the paint, then when you have a few of them put them in the oven ( hope the wife fishes or else ) and bake them at around 250 for 15 min. Paint will stay on real well after that. Most everything else I get at the Morning Hatch. Good luck and have fun.

I get Chenille from Streamside angler flyshop off Capitol BLVD. Bobs in Longview has a good selection. Also there is a fly shop in Lacey, can't remember the name. Jig hooks I order from Cabela's. I have a mold and pour my own. I believe they also have the paint. Like BW I also use the powder paint. Just remember to clean the jig eyes before putting them in the oven. A jig eye buster will not break the paint out.

bank walker Here is a link to cabela's. http://www.cabelas.com/ search for jig molds. Click on Do-It jig molds. I use the Do-It plastic grub jig mold with barb. I would prefer one without a barb, as I cut that off. I have 1 with 8. Cavities: Sizes: 1/8oz; Hook sizes/style: 1 and 1/0 (570, 575) and 1 with 8. Cavities: Sizes: 1/16oz; Hook sizes/style: 1 and 1/0 (570, 575). I use Eagle Claw O'shaughnessy #630 in size 4 for 1/16oz jigs and size 2 for 1/8oz jigs. The 570 and 575 hooks are to light of wire. The 1/8oz jig mold needs to be slighty modified to fit the heavier wire hooks. I use old wheel weights for the lead. It is a hard lead which works good unless you want to make split shot or anything that needs to be crimped or bent. The lead I have was given to me. Wrecking yards, scrap metal yards, or tire shops should be a good places to find lead.

You have to remove the period after com for that link to work.

http://www.barlowstackle.com/ Looks like a great site. Just copy and paste the web address to the post when you want to share a site you found. Good luck making jigs. It is always good when you can catch fish on something you made.
