Hey everyone, I used to post mainly on ifish because the information there was closer to my locale. I just moved to redmond, on Avondale road. I'm looking for somewhere to catch some fish. I'm used to fishing the North Fork of the lewis river 2-3 nights a week. So far I haven't had any luck finding anything. This will be my first full weekend I've stayed up here and not gone back/forth so I will be doing some more exploring.

I drove around last weekend, and found the sammamish(which I think is closed to fishing and tiny), and the snoqalmie and tribs. After driving the river it looked a bit strange to me. I'm used to seeing some structure, rapids, etc but I didn't see any of that in the areas that I went. Everything I saw appeared to be private, with the exception of a boat ramp, and a bridge.

Does anyone have any information that would mind sharing with me? I don't need want anyones sweetspots or honeyholes, just somewhere I can start to learn the area. I don't mind driving 45 minutes or so to fish. I have a 14 foot aluminem boat/motor but no where to store it up here right now, so I will just be a bankee for now. Are there any later salmon runs in the area? What about winter steelies? I will be pulling out my atlas this weekend and doing some more exploring. Hopefully I can find something. This lack of fish and abundance of people is killing me:) I am also available via email at jhulse@attbi.com

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff...I live closer to issaquah and can give you a few tips. But I'm having a hard time finding fish too in this low water!!!

If I were you, I would concentrate on the Skykomish. Easy for you to get there, just take Avondale Rd. to Woodinville-Duval Rd. or go over Novelty Hill Rd. to get to the snoqualmie valley and Duvall. Head north from Duvall to Monroe and you will see the Sky near Monroe. Bank fish there or higher up on the river up to the forks, or put your boat in at many points, river not very hard to drift except for way up. The Sky seems to have the best returns locally, plus feels like a classic steelhead river. But you will have company. The snoqualmie is OK too , but mainly from FAll City up to the Falls. I used to fish the Sammamish as a kid and though it looks like a ditch, used to have good steelhead numbers. I've caught many fish in downtown Redmond, but between habitat destruction and the seals eating all the steelhead at the locks, it is pretty much over there (sadlly). Good luck!
