I have had some success pulling plugs for Steelhead but not with a variety of plugs. Mostly silver and gold 35 Hotshots and variations of the silver and gold. Caught a few on Pirate Tadpollys but thats about it. There is such a huge selection of plugs where does a guy start?
What plugs do you guys have confidence in?
What is your favorite water condition to pull plugs?

My fav. plug would have to be a 25 Red/blue Pirate Hotshot. I like to use it when the river is running a little high and the drift fishing isn't really working.
I figure that if the fish won't bite out of hunger, then they might bite something out of annoyance.

Though not my favorite technique (plug pulling), if I had to pick a favorite it would be a green pirate #35 Hotshot.

it's not my favorite technique either but can help break up a day and sometimes it seems like it is the only thing working. A little variety from slinging bait and floatin the worm. I think they are all asleep now, kids are getting their first real tackle boxes. Ive still got my first one, an old steel thing.

I'm partial to wigglewarts, in orange or blue herring bone. I like to use them, but use bait divers more often, unless I think i'm the first through a run. I think the first boat through with plugs gets any fish that is going to bite a plug.

pulling plugs is my favorite way to fish for steel.I love those violent takes. My favorite plug is a metallic pink tadpolly, no rattle,no black bill. The ones without the rattle are getting harder to find as they don't make them anymore, glad I got 20 or so still in the package. This plug delivers in all water conditions.

I'm a drifter at heart who has been jiggin a lot the past 2 seasons. I'd guess that plugs are 3rd choice for me. Except when I'm fishing with rookies then they are first. For colors I like the pirates and chromes in the early brat season and colored metallics and solid colors later for C & R on the nates. Size wise I usually have on 35's. Plugs are my 1st choice for salmon. I just love the take downs! Switched 100% to size 13 & 14 Quickies for the salmon this past season. Didn't seem to make much difference what color or if they were wrapped or not. The main thing was getting them tuned properly.

Pulling plugs is no. 2 for me. I use tadplolys only. Any color clear coated over chrome. You don't have to tune them they come that way right out f the box. I also remove the trebs and put a single siwash with a swivle on the tail. Easy to get the hook out if its a nate or a non keeper.
My 2 cents worth
