Each of the twenty has far reaching, negative consequences.
1. Tax cuts leading to massive, unprecedented deficits
Not to mention more money in my pocket
2. Preemptive wars against non-aggressive nations
Non aggresive? saddam hussein declared war on us years ago and invaded kuwait.
3. Sanctioning of torture
Oh those poor terrorist I feel so bad they had to wear womens panties!
4. De-regulation of environment protections
how else are we supposed to compete economically with Japan, China,Taiwan etc....
5. Weakening of the separation of church and state
will somebody show me where it say "separation of church and state.
6. Exempting the gun industry from lawsuits
suing the gun industry is like suing Gamakatsu for sticking myself with a hook! ridicules lawsuits!
7. Weakening of individual privacy protections
Ya this really sucks! we wouldnt want to know where Hassam has the nuke now would we.
8. Rejection of international organizations - U.N., World Court, etc.
we are a sovereign nation the un is a big bunch of world domination bullsh!!
9. Increased hatred of the U.S.A. in Islamic countries
Uh, hello! like they didnt already!
10. Increase in terrorist attacks since 9/11
not in this country they didnt!
11. Neglect of poverty in the U.S.A. and abroad
uh no child left behind?, tsunami relief africa aid.
12. Shifting the tax burden from wealthy corporations and individuals to wage earners
look up the percentages. the wealthly already pay more then there fair share
13. Reducing (hoping to abolish) estate taxes thus creating "a permanent aristocracy" in America
Noooo, we would want people to inherit anything worth a crap now would we.
14. Furthering anti-intellectualism - a president who admittedly does not read and is embarrassingly inarticulate
I will deny an answer to this b.s
15. Increased military spending; hostility to spending for social services
and your point?
16. Increased number of Americans without health care
healthcare issues are a problem for both sides but when bush trys something hes shut down by the dems
17. Rejection of minimum wage increases - five consecutive years
Ya lets raise it ,so the poor will be less likely to have money to buy anything. manufacturing and textile prices would go up. economy will go down as china picks up some more business
18. Applying the principle of awarding lucrative contracts to crony companies without competitive bidding
Ya what does he think awarding contracts to american companies instead of foreign companies what a patriot!
19. Attempts to privatize Social Security
and that would be bad why? seems to have worked in some states here.
20. Four consecutive years of increases in the percentage of Americans living in poverty.
Get a job. stuff envelopes, deliver papers, work at burger king get one of those get rich quick schemes.

Microp,

It's clear you're OK because you thought my post about folks nowdays not knowing the difference between a sheepherder and a cowboy was funny.

Anybody who laughs at my jokes couldn't be a nutcase.

So, since you're not a nutcase, there must be some evidence that would cause you to change your mind about Bush.

What is it? What evidence would cause you to change your mind about Bush?

If somebody came up with a picture of Bush taking it in the rear from a donkey I may be inclined to believe hes a dope. Until then I believe he has made some mistakes but over all considering the circumstances hes done ok.

Well Microp,
Bush taking it in the rear from a donkey (or as is more likely, Jeff Gannon/Gluckert, since the visitor log at the White House shows Jeff being there for a couple of over nighters) is private behavior. Isn't there anything connected with his job as president which could change your mind?

"Not to mention more money in my pocket"

That money is basically a loan that your children will have to pay back (we are in record deficit)

"2. Preemptive wars against non-aggressive nations
Non aggresive? saddam hussein declared war on us years ago and invaded kuwait."

We went in and wooped his behind for it, and lo and behold, the second time around it turned out he didn't actually have weapons of mass destruction, no nukes, no chemical or biological.

"Oh those poor terrorist I feel so bad they had to wear womens panties!"

They've also been beaten, while tied to chairs, until blot clotted in their legs and killed them, many other reports about how we violate the Geneva conventions, wish ill on anyone you want, but when we open the door to torture, other countries will inevitably follow suit. If you really supported the troops, you would know that allowing torture means that our troops will most definately be tortured when thay are captured.

"4. De-regulation of environment protections
how else are we supposed to compete economically with Japan, China,Taiwan etc...."

Think about that, while our environment deteriorates, our salmon and steelhaed numbers decline, do you want to compete with China with different tactics or write off fishing as a former hobby??

"will somebody show me where it say "separation of church and state."

Try a google search

"6. Exempting the gun industry from lawsuits
suing the gun industry is like suing Gamakatsu for sticking myself with a hook! ridicules lawsuits!"

I almost agree with you on this. 1 out of 20 isn't too bad, that's a whoppin' 5%, I am sure the rest of the class thanks you for turning their 70% into an A- by the bell curve.

this could just go on and on

Microp,

You are a reasonable young man. (I hope.) So I will tell you a few historical facts about George Bush the younger that will change your mind about him if anything will.

1. He's a preppy. Went to an exclusive eastern prep school. Andover, if my memory serves.

2. He's a Yalie. Went to Yale. Had poor grades at Andover but was accepted into Yale on a legacy, which means they let him in because he was from a rich family and some of his family went to Yale.
So he was a silver spoon Yalie.

3. He was a frat boy at Yale.

4. He was a cheerleader at Yale.

5. His nickname at Yale was a feminized version of George, i.e. "Georgie". He got the nickname because of the crowd he "hung" with when he was at Yale.

6. Despite his real background, he pretends to be a Texan. That may not be as important to you as it is to me. It's important to me because I'm a Texan going back many generations on both sides of my family.

So a completely historically accurate description of Bush is that he is a preppy silver spoon Yalie frat boy cheerleader called Georgie who pretends to be a Texan.

There! Now if that won't change your mind about Bush, nothing will.

That definetly puts a sour taste in my mouth Suckersnagger. Though I wish a was a preppy silver spoon yale man. I would have a heck of alot more time to go fishing! Notice I didnt say preppy silver spoon yale cheerleader man.

Fishpolease, Wow we almost agree on something thats a start isnt it? If you can give me that it does not say seperation of church and state in the constitution I will give you #4 .

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

Article VI, paragraph 3 specifies that "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States"

This is part of the argument for separation of church and state.

Troops to teachers sounds like a good idea but I havn't talk to a teacher yet that agrees with NCLB. The main criticism being that it doesn't help schools that need it it just puts them farther behind. And transferring to another school isn't an option for many students in rural areas nor could many schools handle the influx of students from failing schools. It also hurts schools that accept special needs students since their perofrmance is included in the evaluation

Of course teachers would like to stop programs that hold them accountable to the fundamentals. Do not forget that it also holds the community accountable. Is it perfect no but it is step back towards the right direction. The issues of sepeical needs kids if true would need to be addressed. Since we tend to err on the side of caution WRT them I would expect it to happen.

Bingo!

We have a new teacher at our school from Omak. 90% of the moms work there 90% of the mom voulunteer here. We are seeing new problem however. Super moms. they are too involved in their kids like and manage their kids like it's a corporate career.

This was/is correct. Take the time to actually talk with teachers and you will see how NCLB was ripe with unintended consequences. Not all teachers are dead weight and afraid of accountability. Place an exceptional teacher in a district stricken with poverty and other factors impacting education... students don’t magically increase academic achievement. Why should student achievement be tied into teachers performance when there are so many factors that are tied to overall academic achievement?

Teachers should be assessed on fidelity to teaching models/interventions and how well they build rapport with students to get them engaged in learning.

NCLB was a failed policy by Bush.
Race To The Top was a failed Obama policy.

The number 1 factor for increasing a child’s academic achievement is increased parental involvement. Some parents are more invested in their children’s education than others... and you can’t legislate your way to increasing that.
