Don't let a few bad apples color the morals, character and integrity of the Moral Majority...OK, 56 bad apples...56 bad apples in positions of authority...using their positions of authority for decidedly unsavory purposes.

Possible responses?

1. Condemn them as the perverted asswipes that they are. (Not likely...)

2. Deflect the point, and rather than address the issue at all, point out that someone else somewhere else is just as bad (nevermind that the assertion that character and integrity are being restored by the right wing implies that they are better than the rest, and that the sins of others are no excuse for their own behaviors)

3. Ignore the issue.

My guess is that #'s 2 & 3 will get some air time...and that #1 will sit dusty on the proverbial shelf...

For the record, I'm generally opposed to molesting children and think anyone found guilty of it shouldn't get 'treatment', they shouldn't pass go and collect $200, they shouldn't go to jail--They should be put down like a rabid animal regadless of any political party affiliation.

The question was how come there are so many chi-mo Republicans in this country? You don't find it somewhat odd that all these "pro-family Republicans" are really pedophiles? Maybe if they weren't so uptight about sex between consenting adults, they could leave the kids alone. Shoot, maybe some porn would do these guys some good.

I don't think that the republicans will be worry much about these folks in the future. Leaving out Rumsfeld, the rest of these people would not be allowed into a room with any of the conservatives I know. And AntyM, there are lot of Christians that feel the way you say, but my guess is that most of them are republicans. The word Christian means to be Christ-like and I don't think that any of the forementioned items would be included as such. The problem with present day Christianity is much like, in my opinion, Modern day Islaam. Most Christians don't act like Christ or follow his principals, giving Christianity a bad name. In the case of Islaam, the opposite seems to be true. Most Moslems also take a soft approach to the Koran. While the Koran is not as extreme as many of the terrorists, liberals are joking if they think true Islaam can ever get along with Western Christianity or Isreal. A true reading of the Koran, from what I understand, requires the death and destruction of all who do not follow its truths. This is a little off topic, so, that being said, I am sure that a similar list of liberals could be found. Is it your stance that the list is only shocking because it is of conservatives? If so, does this mean that such behavor is acceptable amoung democrates or liberals? Perhaps we should ask people like Woody Allen, who marries his own quasi-stepdaughter, or Victor Salva, a convicted Child molester, how they were able to be so easily forgiven by the Hollywood elite.
I am sorry that I don't have a full list of liberals that deserve to be tossed off the face of the earth, along with the republicans that you mentioned, but I am sure if I had the time it could be done.
If you really want to make a republician worry, ask him why he is against gay Marriage. Then, when he tells you it is to protect the sanctity of Marriage, ask him to sign a petition outlawing no-fault divorce. You will find out real quick how few true Christians and true conservatives there really are. The rest are nothing more than what you are railing about. Weak, cowardly people, who try to act righteous but accept everything so as not to bring condemnation upon themselves.
I know, this is a long rambling post, but I guess what I am trying to say is: 1. Republicans don't condone this activity, and certianly not as much as some factions of the liberal wing. 2. Yes, there are lots of hypocrites out there. The fact that there are hypocrites does not destroy the truths of fundemental values. 3. True Christianity should never make allowances for sinful actions, only forgiveness upon renouncing and giving up such actions, and hope for a life free of such actions.
4. I admit that the republican party, along with Western Christianity, needs to gets its act together.

It may be sacrasm, but it seems to be how most right wing christians act, thus my statement.
I am really conservative in my values and most political views, but really liberal in my thinking. It makes for some great reactions in the Ultra-conservative church I go to. I ask them why we went into Iraq and the original answer was to get weapons of mass destruction, then it was terrorism and then to restore their dignity and install human rights. It scares me that the people feel they can go into a country and install their moral beliefs, such as democratic elections, full women voting and civil rights, and such; and not understand that the Terrorist feel they attacked us to install their version of morality. Looking at it from an extreme Islamic view, here is America, a county that allows unfettered ponography to infect their country and the world through Hollywood and other media, kills their own babies through abortion, has rampant drug and alchol problems, openly allows homosexuality, promotes women to defile themselves, and openly embraces public sexuality and tries to spread such values through out the world. Why Allah must want them to be stopped at all costs.
